Homemade Play Dough

Hi B.,

The recipe I use is from the side of a Clabber Girl Corn Starch container. I also have a recipe for finger paint from another source, if your interested let me know.

PLAY CLAY
1 Cup salt
1/3 C water
1/2 C corn starch
1/4 C cold water
food coloring

In a medium sauce pan, mix salt and 1/3 C water over medium heat; stirring occasionally (3-4 minutes). Remove from heat; add cornstarch and 1/4 C cold water and drops of food coloring if desired. The mixture will resemble mashed potatoes. Stir until thick, cool, then knead on cornstarch dusted surface.

Store in an airtight container in fridge with a damp paper towel.

So funny that you are asking I literally just emailed some friends of mine this recipe because they requested the recipe too.

playdough recipe:

3 C water
3 T oil
food coloring or dye of choice.

*bring these ingredients to a boil.

3 C flour
3/4 C salt
6 T cream of tartar

* bring the rest to a boil and stir until ball forms. Place on lightly floured suface and knead until cool.
You can add a food grade perservative (not needed) to make it last longer. I also add scented oils like lavendar just a few drops to make it a soothing calm activity.

Easy Kool Aid Play Dough added 11-9-98 Submitted by: Sandi Novello

Need: 2 1/2 cups flour, 1 cup salt, 3 teaspoons oil, 2 cups boiling water, 2 packages Kool aid

Mix the dry ingredients. Add water and oil. knead. careful hot!

this is easy and fun and it smells good

I found this recipe in the Martha Stewart Kids magazine.
1 cup flour, 1/2 cup salt, 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil, and 1/3 cup water tinted with 17 drops of food coloring of choice

Pour flour, salt and oil into a medium bowl and stir with wooden spoon. Next, add colored water and knead dough with hands until smooth. If dough is crumbly, add more oil but if too sticky add more flour. Dough can be stored in airtight container in refrig for up to two weeks
