I can't recall which hot tea I can drink while pregnant. I'm in my first trimester and have a cold and a lot of congestion. All I have is Lemon and Ginger herbal tea bin caffeine. Is that okay to drink? What other's can I have? Thanks

What can I do next?

You can drink any tea you like while pregnant as long as you don't drink gallons of it. Jeez, all the "rules" out there could make a person crazy!

All herbal teas are NOT safe to drink!! Lemon and ginger should be fine though.

This link has a list of teas that are safe (along with things they are good for...) along with a list of teas that are NOT safe along with the reasons why.

Also, for your congestion doing a sinus flush is very helpful. If you don't have a neti pot, you can make a saline solution and use whatever is convenient to treat yourself.

I know you aren't allowed Gypsy Cold Care tea while pregnant, but I can't remember why.
I do recall that my ob gyn recommended sipping plain hot water or chicken broth instead of any herbal tea.

i don't agree that any herbal tea is safe! some of them (i'm thinking pennyroyal, which is in some mints) have abortifacient properties.
lemon and ginger should be fine. and sage tea, which is terrific for colds, is not recommended.
that being said, you'd probably have to drink a LOT of herbal tea for it to harm you. but might as well err on the side of caution.
in your case i'd stick with the lemon and ginger (or chamomile if it's close to bedtime) and add local honey and a couple of granules of cayenne, assuming your stomach doesn't object to heat. it's great for unstuffing.
hope you feel better!

I don't know if it's on the safe list provided by another poster, but I drank peppermint tea every morning when I was pregnant with my youngest. I still drink it fairly often because it's good for the digestive system and I have IBS. I would think it would feel good for the sinuses too.

The only one I remember being specifically told not to drink was red raspberry leaf tea. I looked at the first link Marie gave you below, and I agree that you need to stay away from the ones mentioned there, too. But none of those were ones I drank unless I was looking to medicate myself.

I drank ginger tea because it settled my tummy from my minor morning/evening sickness. Mine was decaf, but honestly, I didn't really avoid caffeine like some people do. I still even drank my coffee!

Just don't drink green tea . It can make you go into premature labor. Any other tea is fine . Enjoy !

Don't forget to have chicken soup . It's proven to help a cold . Also, vicks vapo rub on your feet with socks :)

You can drink any HERBAL tea..

And yes, Lemon and Ginger is excellent.

I am sorry you do not feel well. I used to put a warm wet cloth on my node and over the sinuses.. It took off some of the pressure away.. Aso a steamy shower is helps.

Have you ever tried a Neti Pot? It is also awesome..

I"m 23 weeks pregnant with a cold and I'll drink whatever damn tea I want. Most of what I drink is Celestial Seasonings Herbal teas, with little to no caffeine in them.

Didn't even think that tea would be on my no-go list. Oh well, If I'm still drinking Mt. Dew and other sodas (Raspberry Ginger Ale is YUMM!) I don't think tea will be a bad thing.

It's all about moderation.

Chicken broth for sure. Whenever my son is sick, he gets chicken soup.
The lemon ginger should be fine, too.

You do want to avoid licorice, which may be in the Gypsy Cold care. Here's a link as to why:
