What's it made of? I have heard hairspray for cloth, rubbing alcohol. If the material allows--try a magic Eraser.
My daughter wrote w/ink on the kid's step stool. What gets it off? I should know this but can't remember. Thanks Mamas...

Mr. Clean magic eraser!!!
Ball point pen will come off of fabric if you spray some hair spray on it and then dab with a damp cloth.
I learned this from a friend who worked as a seamstress in the alterations department of a high end store. Those women had a trick for everything.
P.S., the cheaper the hair spray the better. Grab a can of aqua net.
Hand sanitizer will remove ink, but unfortunately in some cases it will remove the finish as well. I have used it to remove Sharpie from an enamel finished white tabletop without damaging the table.
Nail polish remover with acetone. Also some types of hair spray also work.

Hairspray is a good trick. Also the magic erasers work by Mr. Clean.
Mr. Clean Magic eraser is awesome at taking ink off of stufff. My daughter colored with a sharpie on my bathroom cabinet and it came right off. I've only had a couple of things that it couldn't remove.
I've also purchased the store brand and they work great too.
is it wood or plastic? try rubbing alcohol or "Goo Gone" if it's plastic, Murphy's Oil Soap if it's wood
anti-bac gel works well on this sort of thing!
Hairspray dissolves ink.
