How Much Time Everyday Do You Dedicate? Just Curious.

I see some people are super clean and organised. I love to laze around and then when the house gets dirty I spend the whole weekend cleaning it up, folding laundry, doing dishes. I try to do it everyday, but man it's so difficult to keep it up.

So my question is for those whose house is always clean and organised. On an average how long do you spend everyday doing house work? That includes laundry and folding and putting it away, dishes, cooking, cleaning, bathrooms, vaccum. How often do you do the cooking, laundry, vaccuming etc.And on days you do it , do you put in extra time? Do you have cleaners come in to help with cleaning?

How do you motivate yourself not to sit down until everything gets done. I know all of you are tired as well. How do you keep going day after day? I just wish I had a maid and a cook. And I could just relax in the evenings and weekends with my son ;)

I work from home. I alternate my day between answering work emails (and screwing around on here), doing laundry, vacuuming, making lunches, tidying, dusting, etc. Even though I try to switch it up through out the day, it gets monotonous. Sometime's I'll go a few days without vacuuming... I just can't bring myself to do it! But then there are times when I feel like I have to/want to vacuum every day. It's a delicate balancing act in my home ;)

I guess I spend around an hour every day. I make a daily chore chart, that I check off. I HAVE to be organized about cleaning, or I get super lazy. On my daily list...one load of laundry, swiffer, vacuum (dogs, lots of hair), wipe down counter tops in bathroom and kitchen, general pick up of things, cook. My husband does any dishes in the sink before work. He also folds laundry in the evening. I usually do all my chores when my son is napping, but he does follow we around as I clean. I then have chores I add throughout the week. Twice a week I steam clean the floors, once a week I scrub the bathroom, once a week I scrub down the stove, once a week I change the sheets, etc. I add those to a weekly chore chart. I always do certain things on a certain day. For example, on Tuesdays I menu plan and clean out the fridge, because on Wednesdays I grocery shop. It actually ends up being really easy to get everything done, to just do a little bit every day. It really helps M. to do the same things every day and every week. I don't have too much to do every day, so it's really flexible. If we spend most of the day out, I can easily clean everything while dinner is cooking and my son is playing before bedtime. It's a big help, that my husband does his two chores everyday. He will also pick up if there are things out, before he goes to work. I used to always do big cleaning on the weekend, until I started my lists. Now, the weekend is really relaxing!

I would recommend relaxing in the evenings and weekends with your son over cleaning! This is from a "lives comfortably" kind of gal. (I just posted something similar!). The time spent relaxing will revive you to clean, while the time spent with your son will make everything else less important.

That said, I just tackle my daily pet peeve, sink full of dishes. Everything else can wait until the weekend.

I spend about 20 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening. I found an AWESOME iPhone app that really helps M. with this. It breaks the entire house up into customizable zones. You only focus on one "focus zone" each day, and then you still do your regular daily stuff.

I don't want to get reported, so if you're interested, shoot M. a message.

Ok, so when I get up I spend 30 min right away to pick up what dishes were drying overnight, make beds, start laundry make breakfast etc. Then I get dressed, pick up what is needed again. Before we leave the house we must do a sweep to make sure each room has been picked up. On the weekends I will do the floors and glass if needed, daddy helps so it's nice!

Couple hours per day. I hate spending an entire weekend cleaning! I try to do it all before/after the weekend. and I guess it's not in my DNA to put up with clutter or a dirty house. Doesn't make it right-but that's just M..

I'm like you! I try SO hard to keep up with the cleaning, and it maybe lasts for a day, then before I know it everything has gone to $&%# again.... So then I usually spend a day just cleaning like mad and doing all the laundry. then I'm so tired and sore I can't move :) I wish I could figure out how to keep on top of it. Seems like I can never get ahead!

I have no cleaners and I clean so often that I have no idea how much time. But I would estimate that I clean 6 hours everyday at least. I work in the home. So it's an all day job.

Hmmm...everyday probably about 1.5 hours total. I enlist my kids 11,9 and 5 in doing chores and picking up. I taught them when they were young how to clean house and clean up after themselves. My husband does a lot around the house too. It is not overwhelming to M..

I am one of those ladies that everyone thinks cleans day in and day out to keep my castle clean. But really it is about keeping organized, sticking to a cleaning/laundry schedule and doing a little each day so nothing piles up. I use baskets to throw clutter into. I do surface cleaning and then once a week we do more of a deep cleaning.

I am a motivated person but do not spend countless of hours cleaning..that is not rewarding to M.. There is more to life than a pristine home. I want a home that people enjoy coming to and not feel like it is a Better Homes and Garden home. It is beautifully decorated, organized and clean. We host many house parties, swim parties and such. We love having people over to enjoy our home...it is not a showplace.

Kids clean the bathrooms once a week
Laundry every few days to keep up on it..but the older two do their laundry...they all put their laundry away.
Kids dust once a week.
Kids take out trash a couple times each week.
Kids "clean" their rooms once a week...the other days I just don't care what they do to it.
I cook each day for all meals. Kids rotate being in charge of clearing the table and rinsing dirty dishes. Kids unload clean dishes everyday from the dishwasher.
I vacuum 2 times a week and mop every 2 weeks. Sometimes the kids vacuum.
My hubby takes care of all the yard work...but oldest does the front lawn.

I think it is easier to do a little each day. It is overwhelming to M. to think of letting things pile up and then doing it all.

I got a tip from someone regarding dishes and it helps M.. Always fill up your dishwasher at night and then run it. Every morning unload it so you have an empty washer to fill up throughout the day. This routine has helped a lot.

Good luck and best wishes!

A couple of hours of cleaning/organizing. everyday, not including toy pick-ups and dishes. I can't afford cleaners... Don't we all wish we had a maid and a cook?

Actually, In my "dream house" I have roombas (auto vaccuums) on every floor, a power washer in the kitchen and washing machines and driers in the closet (with a dressing room attached) We will have bedrooms, laundry room, and bathrooms on one floor- together... and kitchen, living and dining rooms on another floor with all wood or laminate flooring... In my dream house- I would spend all of a weekday- lets say "thursday" cooking all of the meals for the week, and another day I would do all the laundry... and everything would be perfectly organized. (oh by the way... in this dream house- mickey mouse jumps out of the pantry after i cook with his magic wand and all of the dishes dance into the dishwasher, and when they are clean they hop out and march their way into the cabinets!)

My pet peeve in our house is "pocket trash"- I HATE when my husband or other family members leave little piles of crumple up pieces of paper, receipts, change etc everywhere... ugh...

In reality- things stay "pretty clean" and fairly organized... Except for M.- I am a disaster area right now- oh well. I just keep telling myself that it isn't like Martha Stewart is going to knock on my door any time soon!

I also have learned the dirty secret that if you show up unannounced at "Mrs. Perfect's" House... you might even spot a stray dust bunny, or catch her without stilettos, pearls and makeup on! Oh my!

I clean to some degree, every day.

For example. Today I cleaned the bath tub. And have done a few loads of laundry.

I threw the kids in the tub....So that counts as cleaning something as well.

It is coming up on get ready time...which can take a while for us....to get Big Brother from school.

Tomorrow I may get a wild hair to organize something I have not touched in weeks....And then that will be clean.

My house is tidy in the fact everything has its place. That pace just maybe a pile on the counter, until I get around to it.

I am an Artist at the moment...So paper rules my counter/desk space. Paint is in its tubs on the floor around my desk...Which at one point USED to be a Kitchen Table.

I like a little chaos around M.. I can not function is totally clean. I feel to controlled.

So to answer the question shortly. I typically spend about 2 hours through out the day working on house related projects....But there is no method to my madness for doing any of it.

My floors on the other hand get a good waxing every three days or so. I like those to at least look well kept. I have a very quick routine down for getting them done in only and hour. I love doing them so much I go and do my in Laws! I am so sick!

Those people you know whose house is always clean........ my belief is that they either have a housekeeper or they only keep the rooms you see clean. I believe it's a full-time job to do all you say.

I clean bathrooms, vacuum twice a month. Try to keep the house "neat" but does not sparkle every day. That two weeks sometimes becomes 4. Laundry I keep up with weekly. Dishes daily. Cooking......... keep it simple. Barbecue when possible to avoid cleaning pots and pans.

In other words. Just do the best you can. Keep on relaxing evenings and weekends....... just don't look too hard at the house.
