Just a suggestion but have you thought about making cupcake icecream? That is where you buy the waffle style ice cream cones and you put the batter into a normal cupcake pan but then you place the icecream cone upside down and it bakes into the cone and cover with icing and tada! It's an icecream cupcake! ;())
i agree with the others that it depends on the carton and it also depends on how big you make them too. If I were you try to find someone with a wholesale club membership and see if they have a "bigger" package for ya.

I think it says right on the cake mix box how many cupcakes it will make.

probably about 2 of each cake mix. But I always buy extra icing-so maybe 3 each.

A box makes 24. So two boxes. Maybe 3 cans of frosting (for lots of frosting - 2 for a basic amount). That will do 50.

The box should give you an idea. But when I make them its always a few less than what the box says. So maybe if it says makes 24 cupcakes, plan on 20. If you do have extra's left over send them home as treats for the guests. Have fun!

Most cake mixes make 24 cupcakes. That said, you would get 2 cake mixes for 48 cupcakes.

most cake mixes USUALLY make 24 cupcakes...so with that guesstimation - I would think you would need 3 chocolate and 3 vanilla...yes, this will make leftovers but that's okay, right?

WOW!! You are having 100 people at your son's first birthday? That's a tad overwhelming!!! YOU GO!!! Not sure I could do that...

One box of cake mix will make 24-26 cup cakes. One tub of pre-made frosting will frost 24-26 cup cakes. So you will need 4 boxes of mix 2 of each. If you are doing pre-made frosting I would buy extra just to be on the safe side. If you want to make your own frosting from scratch look on the side of a confectioner's sugar box for a simple recipe there should be one. Easy to make too! You will also need eggs and oil for the cake mix.

My teen daughter makes a LARGE cupcake for all of our newer little ones for their special cake for them to tear into! Its a gigantic cupcake mold we bought at Michaels. Here it is at Amazon for about $20! Totally perfect for these parties!

Like the others said...2 cake mixes of each for regular sized cupcakes. But an extra frosting, depending on how thick you want it! I always make lots of cupcakes or big cake pieces per person...my family LOVEs cake!

Have fun!

Read the cake mix box. It will tell you how many servings the mix will make.

With my Son being allergic to eggs I make lots of cupcakes(safe ones) and in a normal cake mix I get 16 cupcakes.
