My three year old has scratched almost every movie she owns. How do you clean or repair them?

If the scratches are not too deep you can purchase a repair kit to smooth them out. I've successfully used the inexpensive one that uses a fluid and a cloth. There is a more expensive one with a machine sort of device. I've had a friend fix one that I couldn't fix with the inexpensive one. My grandson deeply scratched one of his favorite DVDs and it could not be fixed.

After the really badly scratched one I stopped letting my grandkids handle the DVD when it was outside the case until they were more mature. At 3 they do not have good enough small muscle control or enough experience to know when what they're doing will damage the DVD. I started letting them with my supervision when they were around 5. When I saw that they were able to be careful I stopped standing by their side.

take it to a Hastings if you live near one... you can buy a repair kit, or if it is really bad they have cd resurfacers that will buff out any scratches, usually costs about $1.50 for each dvd. you might try other cd/dvd sales places, but i know for sure that hastings has them since i used to work there. (maybe try pawn shops too...sometimes they have resurfacers and might let you use them...)

you can try a very soft cloth and rubbing brasso on it, or even toothpaste-- but make sure it's the paste kind and not the gel kind.

you can also polish them with peanut butter and a very soft cloth. There are programs you can download to let you copy DVDs so you can give the kids the copy and you put the good one away. Just dont sell the copies or anything illegal like that.

Also baby lotion works! Rub from the center out to the sides (it is counter-intuitive, but you should never swipe it in circles. Good luck!
