I have found some old pictures all stuck from humidity. Do you know if there is a trick to separate them? Please share...

What can I do next?

Put them in the freezer for an hour or so. Then gently pull them apart. If they stick together and start to tear, stop! You can then either freeze them longer or put them in large container with rice. Shake the container and then let them sit overnight. Remove from rice, freeze again, and they should pull apart with no problems.

I've used both the freeze and rice/freeze method with wonderful results.

**Also, try putting the photos in a tub of rice. Uncooked or course.
It will absorb the moisture.
They do this with tech gadgets.

try... taking them out and in the open air, not in direct sun.
Perhaps, if it gets drier, it can then separate.

in the future, store photos new and old, in a cool dry area in a well sealed box. With a desiccant in the box itself.
And, store the photos in archival acid free paper.... always. Or the photos will degrade.

If you unstuck them, as is, the photo will peel off.

You can try and ask a photographer... or archival specialist.

Ideally, if the photo is stored, with both front sides on top of each other... it will stick to each other over time. Because of the finish on the photo. Especially if it is a glossy finish.

Layering the photos with archival acid free paper, will prevent sticking from happening.

sorry to suggest this by try googling because i bet some scrapbook sites have this info.

I thought i had heard somethign about sliding dental floss inbetween but that would only work if there was a small spot.

Actually now that i think about it, if you have any shops that sell high end photo equipment you might try them.

Does anyone know if the freezing them works? Have never tried it and don't want to suggest it in case it further ruins the pics!
