Any ideas for sharing your RV with another family and our 18 month old? He usaully sleeps in his portable playard. There is limited space now with our friends and their two children in tow.
Thank you for all the great ideas. The trip was a sucess! I will say that it's not something I'll plan on doing frequently. The baby started off in the bedroom then we moved him to the living space when all were ready for bed. I have to add that the family who joined us are all around pretty calm and turned in by 10:00PM. The most challenging aspects were the showers and toilet time. Half showered at night and the others in the morning. My little one woke everyone up at 6 in the morning. The kids had a blast playing together, so it was worth it.
How old are the other children? If they are older they could sleep in a tent just outside of the RV. I would also have a dining tent so everyone would be spending as little time inside the rv as possible.
I can't imagine sharing an RV between four adults and three children, regardless of the ages of the children, sorry. :) I think I'd try to come up with a plan B!
Our playpen sits perfectly in the kitchen area. That still leaves all the beds open and the hallway clear to access the bathroom.
Do you own the RV, or are you renting?
The RV we rented had a bedroom at either end and living space in the middle. Had DD been younger, we would have kept her in our room (which was also where the shower was) or slept on the far side with the bunks and DD in her pack n play there. I would put bells on the door so that you hear kids going out at night (if one would do so) and I would think a portable pressure mounted gate could keep the kids in their own room at night if they are not sleeping in the middle. I would plan to spend most of the day out of the RV.
Bring the pack n play.. use it outside during the day with an ez up over it... We have been rv camping with my son since he was 6 months.. sometimes we invited others with us.. it's just for a few days.. at night put him on the big bed with pillows surrounding him.. keep the door cracked so you can peek in on him while you enjoy the night. Stay close or bring your baby monitor.
We hav ebeen camping with our kids for years. We sometimes invite others to stay with us but we have an extra "room" style area because our garage is enclosed and has beds. We have plenty of space and it' s our trailer so it's kind of our call. (not to sound rude because when we do invite others we are definitely hospitable and they are our best friends so its easy)...With that said, I would rent another for ourselves. It's just easier as a small family to have your owns space and area and you can still plan meals together and have fun.
