S.E.
I had horrendous morning sickness with all my kids, so yes I "knew" before the little stick or doctor told me.
So this is partially just me jumping up and down for joy (sorry, bear with me!) because I just found out last night I'm pregnant and am SO excited!! But I know I ought to ask a question, so I will.
But first off, a little background - I am engaged to an amazing man (we got engaged May 2) and we just bought a house and are settling in. So this timing is fantastic! We have been trying for a few months, but part of me was happy not to be pregnant during all of that. And while we were technically "trying", I wasn't in a huge hurry. This will also be my S. child, I have an amazing 8 year old boy from my first marriage.
We haven't told many people yet, including my son. We're just taking things slow right now. My fiancé went through the loss of a preterm baby boy during his first marriage, so he wants to wait till after the first trimester to tell everyone. I've agreed, although it's not really in my nature. But I'm trying to compromise because it means a lot to him. It's hard to keep in mind though, I want to shout it from the rooftops and start planning, planning, planning!
The funny thing about this pregnancy is that I KNEW I was probably pregnant. I even told him, "I feel pregnant". And had a conversation with him about some budget stuff (no, not for the first time lol) - because I told him, I am going to take a pregnancy test and if it is positive I want it to be a 100% happy moment, without any fear of whether we can afford this. I know, weird.
Anyhow, I had several symptoms that I've never had before and I just had a feeling I was - which I never felt AT ALL with my first child. (Sorry- TMI ahead) My nipples ached, I had constipation, I was smelling EVERYTHING, I was exhausted, and I had this weird crampy feeling for like 3 days. I just knew something was up. I swear, I'm only 4 weeks along (my period is due in 2 days) and I already feel like I have a watermelon down there! Yeah I know I haven't even BEGUN to feel pregnant. So I'm a little interested to see where this goes lol.
So for my question - how did you "know" before you "knew"? I know some people do, I just never thought I'd be one of them!
Thanks All!
Suz T,
Thanks for your concern about my pregnancy. I know it comes from a good place! And I know it's hard to get a clear picture on here, especially with so little information. But I did want to say, we got it all worked out. I've known him for +10 years (before we started dating) so it's a really good feeling, knowing that he is truly a wonderful man who just might have a few flaws (don't we all). I'm not going to get any unpleasant surprises with this one! Everything is happening pretty quickly but it doesn't seem that way; all three of us (including my 8 year old) feel so comfortable and normal already. That's another reason I think it's good to keep it quiet, just to give us all some more time to continue adjusting. Which I will do - so thanks for letting me jump for joy in here! :)

Congratulations!!!
Take your time and shout it out to all of us! Let your guy have his compromise and we can be your listeners. I'd wait to tell everyone, even kiddo. They're going to spill the beans and that will spoil dad's wishes.
no, i'm clueless. i thought i had the flu.
congratulations! i'm very happy that you're so happy.
and i sure don't want to be a debbie downer, but in light of some past questions, i can't help but squirm a little. have you got the issues about who's paying for what, and your discomfort over his eating habits worked out? it's just so soon after getting engaged and the upheaval over a new house, KWIM?
your excitement is infectious, though! i'm smiling with you!

i had other people congratulate me on the pregnancy BEFORE i knew... 3 people and one even knew the gender!.. so odd.
yes shout it out to us here
I had heartburn which I literally never had before in my life (even with my first pregnancy). Plus, I just felt "off" for the lack of a better word. Everyone said there was no way I could feel symptoms that early but I ended up being right :)
Congratulations!!
I kind of knew the night we did it that I got pregnant. Hubby thought I was no fun because I got pregnant so fast.
Of course I waited and had the obligatory doctor's appointment a few weeks later to confirm the pregnancy. Back then they didn't have the over the counter tests they have now.
Congratulations and good luck with the pregnancy. May you have a safe and speedy delivery.
the other S.
personally, I had phantom pregnancy. I felt symptoms and "knew" i was pregnant on those months we were trying, but that I had not actually gotten pregnant. On the months I was pregnant, I had the least symptoms often times. Though I have three children, I've had 6 pregnancies and 5 first trimesters. I did learn toward my last baby that my only early pregnancy symptom was frequent urination. So yes, I got to where I kinda knew. But I made it all up in my head when I was trying for my first and S..
Congratulations! I don't know if I "knew" but I seemed to be pretty fertile.
Such a happy time of life, procreation and new life is. Enjoy! #wistful
I only had this with my fourth...I was super sensitive 'down there' during 'relations'. It was something I have never experienced before or again...but I knew it meant I was pregnant! And I knew for sure (+ test) a few days before my period was supposed to start
CONGRATS!!!
My breasts hurt. That's how I knew. Clear indicator for me!
