Hello Mamasourcers.....

Due to some recent unfortunate issues my brother is going to be in need of childcare for his two daughters. One is 22 months old and one is almost 2 weeks old. His wife is having some post partum/mental health issues that she is going to have to deal with before she can be the sole care provider for the girls again. My mother is down from Oregon to help us our for a few days but she can't stay for too long and we will need to arrange care for the girls as soon as possible.

We are in the Sacramento area near Carmichael and I would probably be the one dropping the girls off because he works so early in the morning. The problem is that I don't know of any daycares that take newborns.

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Any type of childcare (in home, facility, etc) will be considered. We just need the girls in a stable, happy, nurturing place during the days until their daddy or myself (the auntie) can pick them up.

Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

Try Contacting Child Action, they can giveyou a list of daycare providers in your area that take newborns. GOOD LUCK!

Take a look on Craigslist for providers. You may find someone willing to accept a 2 week old; centers won't. Just do careful screening as you would in any situation, recommendation or not. We found our daughter's provider on Craigslist and she's wonderful.

Good luck!

It is hard to find newborn care and like the other poster mentioned I think there might be at least a 6 week age limit. I also live in Carmichael and my first son used to go to a KinderCare that used to be on W. ElCamino & Fair Oaks - they closed to consolidate facilities but there is one on I think Madison - that is the closest. Anyway, they take little babies. Also, there is a place on W. El Camino at the intersection with I think Garfield or around there - that I think takes newborns. There is also Village Montessori near the intersection of Fair Oaks and Arden - not sure if they take newborns. Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. Good luck!!!

Unfortunately I don't know of any places that will take a 2 week old - most places say infants must be at least 6 weeks old. Good luck.
