Mamas & Papas-

Searching for an angel tree topper. Many on the market now are a bit too ornate for my taste. Thinking back to the simpler designs we had growing up in the 70s. something of this ilk,(see the link in the so what happened) but big enough for a full sized x-mas tree.

Have you come across any?
Thanks,
F. B.

Jim, you are right, it is kinda funny looking. nonetheless, it is similar to what I grew up with, and quintessentially christmas-like to me. Looking for ready made. My adventures with a glue gun have turned me off to that sort of craftiness.

I found my Angel in a Duane Reade drug store and get so many compliments on it. Have you tried Christmas Tree Shops and even the dollar store (sorry, don't hate me for the suggestion). You might find something comparable.

Or even ebay!!

These may be too ornate for you, but they are my favorite ... I have 2 and have found them at Tuesday Morning sometimes this time of year ...

I'm with Jim. That's a scary looking angel.

The one we have on our tree is from my childhood...I don't like the ones in the stores now.

Have you tried Etsy? It might be worth a shot.

We got our star topper at Home Depot.. It is not too much and just right.

I know what you mean.
A lot of angel tree toppers are just ghastly.
For awhile they were holding lights you can plug in but I find those (and ornaments) are not compatible with the newer LED Christmas tree lights.
Years ago (1991 I think), I found my perfect angel at a year round Christmas store in July.
She was the last of her model - with porcelain head and hands - a simple dress (in a color I like) - she has a pearl bead halo.
She's just a very tasteful angel and I keep her in a wooden box just the right size for her in acid free paper wrappings when she's not on a tree for 1 month out of the year.

Take a look at these and see if they are what you are looking for:

This one's a little busy with the garland she's holding but not bad:

I'm assuming that the angel isn't big enough for your tree and/or you aren't crafty.

I would look at craft fairs and see what people have. I am not sure where we got our angel from years ago for my family's tree - now DH and I have a star.

This one doesn't have a face, but it's simple: http://factorydirectcraft.com/catalog/products/2149_2043_...

or

This sale is over, but you might want to look on ebay for vintage wooden head angels.

I found one I loved but it looked ridiculous on our tree. It was simply too big and we have 9' ceilings. Eventually I just went with a star that I am now happy with.

B.,

Sorry!! I don't think I could have that angel on top of my tree. It's a tad funky looking TO ME...sorry!!

I would search on amazon.com - use the search words "VINTAGE ANGEL TREE TOPPER" and see what you come up...I would start with google.com and see where that takes me...it might be ebay, amazon, etsy, or even a craft store...

Good luck!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

LOL that angel looks a little drunk to me ;-)
I grew up in the 70s too, ours looked more like this:

I have found they have "simpler" angels at places like Walgreens and True Value Hardware.

One year, as the gift to each family, I made an angel for each family out of raffia and paper. I will look for the angel, and try to find the pattern. They were simple, and beautiful.

Maybe google and get a hot glue gun?

happy holidays

My sister bought an angel very similar to this one, but she's red and has smaller wings. She said she found it at Target.
