With my first one my water boke 2 weeks early but no contractions so they induced me she was 8 pounds 4 oz. The second one they induced me because she was 3 days later, good thing they did cause she was 10 pounds on the dot. With my third I had c-section 3 weeks early and he was still 8 pounds. I have no regrets about being induced. The main thing is you have a healthy baby. Good luck

Please do not induce unless there is a clear medical indication. And I mean your life or your baby's life is in jeopardy. " I am ready to be done" is not a medical reason. You need to let your baby decide when it is ready to be born. Your baby is the only one that knows when it is truly done. Your due date is an estimate only. Most babies go over the so called due date. I am a former NICU Respiratory Therapist and your baby releases a chemical in your body to signal that its lungs are fully mature and it is ready to be born. Labor then begins. I took care of babies all the time that were born after inductions and their lungs were not fully mature and they had to go to the NICU for help. Many of these baby's were induced because their mother was tired of being pregnant. One of the main parts of parenting is patience. Now is the perfect time to start practicing it. Please do not force your baby out. I understand you are tired and you are tired of being on bed rest but in the big scheme of things this is only a very short period of time. You have made it this far, now see it through.

I was induced twice. First time because my water broke and contractions didn't start (8 days late). The second time was because my BP was spiking and making me really sick (due date). Both times they pumped it up to the max on the Pitocin. My first labor and delivery took 20 hours including 2 hours of pushing. My second labor and delivery took 22 hours with only 15 minutes of pushing. My epidural only worked on half of my body both times and the second time was back labor too since my little one came out "sunny side up". I guess I'm the oddball that my induced labors were so long.

No I don't regret it. I don't believe in regretting anything that has a positive conclusion. I have two wonderful, healthy, lively boys. And yes, if medically necessary (as they were) I would do it again. I would do anything to make sure my babies are healthy.

Oh yeah and my boys were 8lbs. 12.4oz and 8lbs. 8oz respectively.

I have had two children and my first was induced. I was very happy with the process the first time. I had to be at the hospital at 5:30 am to start the Pitocin and my daughter wasn't born until 10:30 that night so it was a very long day, but the pain factor was very minimal. The only thing I felt during the contractions for the first half of the day was a little tightening (no pain), then once my water broke and the contractions started to get painful I called for my epidural. What someone said about having the anethesiologist ready is right. It wasn't even 10 minutes later that I had my epidural in and everything was great. I had to be induced because of high blood pressure and I was a week past my due date, otherwise I probably would have just waited. I did feel kind of like I had missed out on the natural labor though. While I loved not having any pain I wondered what it would have been like if I had waited for her to decide it was time. So, I got lucky enough for my second pregnancy to experience the full labor process. My water broke at home and only 5 hours later and barely enough time for an epidural I had my son. Now I can look back at both experiences and know that either way has its benefits and is wonderful in its own way. I don't know which way I would do again. I definitely had more pain without the induction, but it was a much shorter day and I had less time to think about and anticipate what was coming (I'm not sure if that's good or bad). Good luck!

Inductions are great because you know exactly when it will happen (unless you go into labor before your induction date, obviously). My third child was induced and it was great! I would definately do it over again. This way, I was able to make plans for my other two children while my husband and I were in the hospital. However, there was a glitch. On my induction date, all of the beds in labor and delivery were taken and we had to reschedule for the next day. Being induced is also great because you are guaranteed an anastesiologist (I didn't get one with baby #2 and I was forced to give birth with no drugs at all and I was screaming EPIDURAL!!!). So, you can make plans (hopefully your induction date won't get changed), and definately get your epidural. Good luck!

I was induced with my first because my water broke but I wasn't dilated or contracting. They were willing to send me home, but we lived over an hour from the hospital, and I was afraid that we'd just have to turn around and drive back. My second one of my doctors was concerned about my non-stress tests (I was past my due date with both deliveries) so we lined everything up for an induction (care for my daughter) but then at the hospital they said I could wait. I basically talked them into inducing me because a) I was late and b) I had someone to watch my daughter.

Do I regret it? Nope. It got me both my kids. Would they have come another way? Sure. But just because it would have been different, doesn't mean it would have been better. I truly see no point in regretting something that a) cannot be changed and b) provided a wonderful end result!

I had started leaking and by the end of the day they finally started to give me pitocin because I wasnt dialating. I would consider it the same as being induced. I had no choice because of risk of infection, but even if I did I would do it the same way again. I did not have drugs with either of my kids, and this was definitly a little more painful (maybe because I knew more of what to expect too) The labor seemed to take a little bit longer too. This was my second child. Every delivery is so different. Everbodies bodies respond so differently.

I was induced 2 days after my due date. My son is now one year old. My doc suggested induction because I have already passed my due date and my son looked good to go and she said there is no advantage of having him in there longer than need be. I didn't now anything about induction at the time but I went ahead with what the doc suggested it.

My son was really stubborn in wanting to come out. It took all of 32 hours for induction and labor and he finally came out 32 hours later. I did get get an epidural 7 hours before I gave birth. It only took me about 20 minutes to push my son out and I didn't feel a thing because of the epidural.

My experience was okay, I just got really tired and nauseated because of the pitocin since I can't eat anything except for jello and popsicles. I will probably do it again if there is an urgent need to or if I am way passed my due date and the baby is getting too big and might need a c-section.

I don't regret it because it was more of a planned delivery so I knew what to expect. I was always afraid that my water will break when I am at the store or something so this totally prevented that from happening. But of course the next time around I will go the natural route as much as I can.

I have VERY fast labor, fast as in, started feeling contractions at home at 4:30am, was at the hospital by 6am and was holding my baby by noon fast...so with my next 2 babies the Dr. elected to induce me, just in case...

Both inductions were fine...I had my membranes scrapped in one (that was kinda unpleasant) but other than that I was fine.

I know the saying goes, that all pregnancies are different...but all 3 of mine were exactly the same...at the hospital by 6am, holding my baby by noon...that's one who came naturally and 2 inductions! :)

I've had 2 inductions. Both were awefull but necessary. What I would change if I could were the pain drugs with the first (bad, bad, bad. Lots of pain, hallucinations, and a constant spinning sensation. My daughter was stillborn and they just wanted to keep me drugged out of my mind.) and the epidural with the second, a beautiful perfect baby boy (also bad. I was "tapped high" because of a previously broken lower back. Then they forgot I was tapped high and gave me too much. I was numb up to my neck and couldn't breathe. I had the shakes so bad the entire 24 hours of labor.) I wish I could've gone natural, but when you're in labor it's almost impossible to be in control. Just make sure you have a very strong support person with you who can help advocate for you.

Its great to say that any outcome with a happy health baby is a good outcome, but I wish we lived in a world where pregnant women were listened too and treated like women and not "hormonal messes"!

I had a planned induction 2 days before my due date. The ultrasound the day before showed my son was 9lbs, 8oz, they induced me the next day so the baby wouldn't get any bigger and then I would have to have a c-section.
I was in labor (no drugs) for 19hrs on the highest doses of pitocin they could allow. Didn't progress, so ended up in a c-section anyway. My son was 7lbs, 15oz. So would have been fine if I waited a few more days (ultrasound was obviously inaccurate). The induced contractions were excruciating painful - But my baby was born healthy, I was fine - so no regrets. I am pregnant now and will have a planned c-section this time around. Takes alot of the worries and pressure off of having your water break in the middle of Walmart or at work! :-) Good luck to you!

I was induced with 3 of my 5 kiddos. 1 of those was elected, 2 i had high risk pregnancies. I don't regret any of them, and yes i would do them all again. My first lasted 11hrs, 2nd was 6hrs, & 3rd was 6hrs, from pitocin to birth :) My elected induction was 1 day after due date, the other 2 were 10 days before my due date.
Good luck to you!

I was twice.Once because my water broke and 8 hours later I still had not gone into labor ( no dialation or contractions.

The second I opted for it and while the delivery and labor were fine, I would never choose to do it again. Although she was 9 pounds, the baby wasn't quite ready to be out as witnessed by the copius amounts of vernix all over her!

Although both were good for me, the mama, I say hang in there and wait it out!
