I do not know about intracapsular surgery but I do know that any tyope of throat surgery is very painful. I also have quite a bit of knowledge about apnea and nightitme snoring issues. There is a lot of information available both on line and in the libraries. One of the best is the Mayo Clinic site. doing a few simple searches there can give one a tremendous education.
From personal experience: surgeons first line of solution to any problem is usually surgery - that is what they do. Please please please exhaust every other avenue before you decide. Nothing wrong with surgery when necessary but so often it is like using a cast when a band-aid would do the job.
If it is necessary, bless her heart and throat already. Make sure you get to speak directly with the anesthesiologist and understand what the after effects and potential longer term issues may be from being put under.
Blessings and prayers are yours.
