Is Change Really Inevitable?

Don't you hate it when you find a product you love or rely on and they change it!
Last night, I got online to order printer cartridges and guess what? Now I have to order them from overseas because apparently they are obsolete here! I love my printer/scanner/copier! I don't want to get a new one, but I can see it coming if I have to buy cartridges from overseas.
This morning, my husband ran to Sam's. Baby wipes were on the list. He called and said the box looked different and they'd changed the Sam's "Member's Mark" brand to a new name. I told him to only get one box and we'll try them I guess. I love the Sam's wipes! Why do they have to change them?
Is there anything that you loved that they changed?

Edit: I also hate when they change a store around. The OCD part of me goes a little bonkers! I make my list in the order I walk through the store. Weird, I know!

What can I do next?

When The Wall came down, my grandfather stocked up on lightbulbs some of his german friends aquired from the East. Why? Because they last for 20+ years, are 150wat bright, but only use a few wats of energy.

That was in the late 80's, they were 'used' when we got them, and we're STILL using the suckers.

Things *can* be made to last, but companies don't profit when things are built to last.

This is the story of my life! From body scrubs, mascara, blush, concealer, shampoos, cleaners etc... I seem to only like the items that no one else likes and gets discontinued. I feel your 'pain'. :)

Most of us have stuff we used to buy and loved, and then they "improve" it, and its worse. We had some really great furniture years ago. Wonderfully strong, sturdy, built right, and good looking. It was so comfortable, people commented all the time about how good it felt to sit in our chairs, or on or couch. I decided after having it for years,, that Id like a different color so we went shopping and thought we found good stuff. By the time we realized our sew stuff wasnt quality, it was too late. We had given the other furniture away and to this day wish we had it back. We have had 4 new sets of living room stuff and none has been good. I should have kept that orange set and just re-upholstered it. Remember toilet paper being small rolls, and then they started making double rolls and that was great! But now, the rolls are narrower so they are skinny little strips and not even as big as a double roll used to be. My biggest disappointment in change is with electronics. As much as we want our tvs and computers to be the best, it seems like everytime they upgrade them, they dump some of the best features. I hate when I get that pop-up saying theres an upgrade to my stuff and the next thing I know, I cant find my pictures, or it wont let me veiw 2 websites at the same time, and cant download photos the same way, and it makes me crazy! I also hate when I finally find clothes that fit and look right and wash/dry well and go back to get more in all the colors and they are gone and never come back.

Oh, yes. Thank you for bringing this up. The thing that first crosses my mind is the color safe bleach powder, Snowy. This was a wonderful product and no store around here carries it anymore. Also, miss Dove dish soap which left my hands super soft, no longer made, I guess. I also miss our local sausage brand around here, Kowalski's--best hot dogs in Michigan and they are getting harder and harder to find. I'm with the previous posters, I HATE when my grocery store gets changed around. It is annoying and frustrating. My theory on "change" is that there is someone in charge who gets "bored" and has nothing better to do than to save their job, so they need to change things to keep themselves employed. Makes sense:)

A lot of vendors change packaging without changing the product, so it is possible the wipes inside are the same. My favorite wipe brand is CVS since they are cloth not paper. But I know what you mean. My pet peeve is the re-organizing of products on store shelves. Both our local Shaw's grocery store and Target have just totally re-done their isles and now it takes me a lot longer to shop there. Probably when I have the new pattern memorized they will change it again, for whatever reason!

Pizza rolls.. We used to eat a name brand kind at Save-a-lot. But after they got us hooked on those they stopped carrying the main brand for a store brand. Those were gross. I know it's not exactly the same.

Shampoo and conditioner....leave it alone already!

Strawberry bars... At one time I could get a bar that had just one ingredient... Strawberries LOL! But that brand suddenly changed in flavor and all kinds of junk and additives were added.

I'm sure there are more.

Another thing that makes me crazy... Stop changing our store lay outs! I just get to know where things are and BAM, it's all changed.

Grrrr, tell me about it! There is only one car that suits ALL of my needs, within a budget......and they stopped selling them in the US in 08. I've already bought 2, and would likely be on the 4th by now.

I like speed, performance and style, but I have three kids and two Golden Retrievers, and I do NOT want a SUV/CUV or van.

I LOOOOOVE my Mazda 6 Sportwagon, there is no other alternative for me in that price range.

I have been whining about it for years. The Mazda FB fan page, which is international, frequently posts pix of MY CAR, NEW ones, only from EUROPE, it makes me CRAZY!

In fact last summer, I chose to spend 10k on a new motor and transmission for my 06 Mazda 6 Sportwagon, rather than buy a different new car.

So, yeah, I feel your pain, CHANGE IS BAD!

:)

They changed the smell of my deodorant recently. It has the same name and front design. I walked around for a week thinking what that new smell was. I only smelt it every so often. Finally I smelled it one morning and bam! I am so annoyed because it isn't a better smell what so ever. Its more annoying.
Pampers when they change their diapers for the "better" no so much for my little girls bottom. She is fine in the baby dry but can't use any other pampers. Huggies in general breaks her out.
Yes, and when they change the store around. I am one for walking in getting what I want and walking out. I am not a happy shopper to many inconsiderate people that drive my batty.

Mary Kay makeup.

I used to love it and wear nothing else. Now it makes my skin burn. I still have a lot of the glamour and since I don't have my extra emollient cleansing cream and my Summer Beige that is NOT orange I just stopped wearing makeup.

They stop making their best sellers and change everything so they can be the same as everyone else. Mary Kay was something special years ago. It changed how my skin felt and how it stayed under the makeup. I don't think her father would be very happy with the company now that they have completely gone away with how he developed the whole system of treating the skin.

It is all about profit maximization. New printer cartridges = new printer. They reorganize stores because people make impulse purchases as they are walking around looking for the one thing they really want. Once you know where everything is, you end up spending less time in the store, which means less profit for the company.
