Is the Book "ROOM" Based on a True Story?

I heard an interview the author on NPR last year. It's not based on anything accept a "what if."

Amazon has it listed as a novel in the fiction catagory.

I read it this past summer - it was gripping!
I saw an interview with the author. It is fiction. She was actually defending herself because so many people were saying she was trying to capitalize off the Jaycee Duggard case, she had written the book before Jaycee was found and her story came out.

I read something the author wrote and she said none of it was true.

I just looked it up on Amazon, and it says it is fiction.
