Is the Silk'n Hair Removal Device Safe for Your Eyes?

I recently purchased a silk'n go and did a patch test. All seems okay so far but even though I looked away and then closed my eyes I cant get over how bright the light is. The instructions say you should be cautious to keep it away from your eyes but nothing says you should have safety glasses. I cant seem to find anything online and now Im thinking maybe I missed something and Im setting myself to go blind if I continue.

What can I do next?

Given the potential seriousness of this situation we would strongly advise you to seek immediate advice from the product manufacturer's help line, and/or if necessary to seek professional medical assistance. This is not an appropriate forum for any situation that might in fact constitute an actual emergency. Hopefully all is well, but just in case it is not you would need help in a way that our members are simply not able to provide here. Thanks.

Why take a chance? Don't use it!

FYI...I do flame work beading. When I work, I use a special type of glasses that has a filter to prevent the harmful rays from injuring my eyes. Sun glasses would not do that although it would appear that the light was less bright. Check with the manufacturer.

I am actually reading your question differently than the other posters. I've had laser hair removal done in a dermatologist's office by someone who is licensed to do this. They always have US wear the safety glasses, but she does not. I asked her about this and she told me that she looks away when she presses the button.

That being said, she's a professional and knows all about the system SHE uses. And she knows exactly how to look away. You aren't a professional and you don't know what she does...

I think that what you are saying is that you are worried about the bright light and wonder if you should be wearing glasses. I don't think you're saying that you are going blind, but that you are concerned about habitual use of the device because of the light.

IF I am understanding you correctly, then go ahead and call the customer service number and talk to them. And it couldn't hurt to wear the kind of glasses that would be appropriate for this...
