Is This a Good Deal on a Kindle?

Walmart has the original Kindle 6" screen, holds 1400 books, wi-fi.......for $79 then you get a $30 Walmart gift card, so final price is $49. The Kindle seemed to get good reviews. If you have one do you like it, is it worth purhcasing?

I may get one for myself & as gifts too.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Got it, and I frequent Walmart so I will def use the gift card, heck I should use the $30 gift card to buy another Kindle as a gift, lol

I LOVE my basic Kindle. I just wanted it for books, I didn't need any internet usage or apps. I find it very simple to use. $79 is the typical price, and if you shop at Wal-mart...that's a good deal for you!!

79 is the going price where ever you purchase them. I suppose Wal Mart figures you will use the gift card and spend more along with it. So as long as you will use the gift card it is a good deal.

I have the kindle touch and love it. Same ink, different interface.

Fire is cool but if you are buying it for reading the traditional kindles are the way to go. I love mine because I can read it in the car in full sun.

I have the Kindle with the keyboard and LOVE IT ! I wasn't sure if I would like not holding a book but after I got it for my birthday it has been awesome. I can play some basic games on there - not many though. If you like to read you will really enjoy it.

That is a great deal if you will use the gift card!

I have the basic kindle ($79) and I love it. It's simple and great for reading. I just learned how to check out books on it from my local library which is super cool because they are free!

I have a Kindle Fire and prefer that to any of the regular Kindles.

The one you are describing is very basic. The Kindle with the keyboard is more user friendly, but was still frustrating to me.

LOVE LOVE LOVE my Kindle! I just updated mine from the original version to the new one w/the keyboard. No problems so far and I both like to buy some books and check out some from the library. GO FOR IT!

Does it have the keyboard? If so then that's the one I have and I LOVE it! It's very basic and is just for reading...not playing games, going on line, etc. If that's what you want it for and you will use the gift card, it's a great deal! I like to use mine just like a book and don't want to be distracted by the fanciness of the tablet versions of Kindle, because I will be distracted! ;)

Do you read a lot? The reason I like the Kindle is because I read a lot and am always lugging books everywhere. This enables me to read more than one book at one time and buy books whenever I want them and still manage it with a fraction of the bulk! The prices for the books aren't really that much cheaper on Kindle than "real" books, although sometimes they are, but to me the benefit is the size, weight, availability and the convenience of not having shelves and shelves of books lurking around my house.

That's a good deal. I paid full price, $99 for my kindle touch and still think it was worth it. I love it. I considered the basic kindle and like it's simplicity. The touch has been nice because it is easier to navigate, highlight and use the dictionary with the touch feature.

I got the Kindle Touch for Christmas, and absolutely love it! I d/l bunches of free books, so I haven't spent bunches on the books. I have no idea how many books it will hold......

The thing I like the most is that I can enlarge the text for easy reading..... I have that wonderful "gift" of presbyopia, and reading some of the smaller text is getting difficult... I've just not been able to get a good prescription for reading, so enlarging the text works so wonderfully to handle that.

I can easily slip my Kindle in my purse and take it anywhere... I currently have probably 100 books on it.

Yes, it is! But if you want a color Kindle Fire, right now (for the next 10 hours or until they run out) Amazon is selling refurbished (same warranty, etc.) Kindle Fires for $139, regularly $169 : )

Love my Kindle even though I thought I would never enjoy the feeling of reading something without actually holding a book. But I love it. I have the Kindle touch. But Kindle is great.

Enjoy.
