I have to echo what the others have said. It's a reaction to something you are using. I am also "allergic to Missouri" (as one mom put it) and among my many sensitivities I have found that I can not use hair products that you buy in the grocery store. I have to pay a little more and get the "good stuff" from a salon, or beauty supply outlet. My oldest daughter is the same way.
I would recommend trying that.

Also, do you have pets ? I have seen this happen to some people with fleas. You may hardly notice them on your pet or in the house, but if you get one in your hair or in your bed, they can leave itchy red bites like that and they love that area on the back of a person's neck, just under the hair line. All it takes is ONE that jumped off of your pet, and you are heading for an itchy time of it.

Try a little Benedryl to relieve the itching until you figure out the problem.

I wish you well !

I had a hairspray that did that to me. The hairdresser said althought I had used it for a while I had developed an allergic reaction to it. Changed sprays and I have not had the problem since.

I had the same problem not that long ago in the same areas. I went to the dermatologist and she told me it was a kind of dermatitis. She gave me some medicine to put on it and it's helped a lot. I'd recommend checking with a derm doc and seeing what they think.

it sounds to me like you are allergic to something. Either something you ate or something you put on, if the rash came on all of a sudden it is probably something you ate, if it has been there awhile, it is something that you are putting on. It could be the hairspray you use, it may be something in it that when it mixes with your chemistry or you perspire that it causes this problem. If it persists I would recommend you see a dermatologist, if you cant afford one, then you need to limit perfumed soaps and bubble baths, stuff you put on your hair, lotions, perfumes etc, until you isolate what it is.

there's a brand of hairspray out there that does that to me, it would be worth trying a different brand for a while to see if it helps.

Hi S.,
As someone who is allergic to Missouri, I've gone through this as well. It's definitely either your shampoo, conditioner or hairspray. Have you recently changed one of them? With this being the change of seasons and high allergy time, you might be allergic to one of them that has a high dosage of "natural" ingredients. Aveda is one of those products that is great, but is made entirely of "plants & flowers". It's worth checking in to.

Your hair spray is probably getting on the back of your nech as well even though your are only spraying the sides. If it is an allergic reaction, it wouldn't take much. Have you tried a different hair spray?
