Itching Under Arms

My armpits have become incredibly itchy. I have washed them well, clean shaven. With or without deadorant, they just constantly itch. This has been going on for a while but is increasingly irritating, especially since I am wearing sleeveless shirts sometimes.
Any suggestions?

So What Happened?

I did use some baby powder yesterday until I could get a new deoderant. I'm trying a clear one today and it seems to be helping. Thanks for the suggestions.

Mine have done that, try putting some hydrocortisone on them. Let it dry then put deodarant on them. If not, call a dermatologist.

Hi S.,

I agree with Julie, it does sound like yeast. It may be something else but yeast will come out of the pores in the moist wet/damp areas if your body is eaten up with it. Is there a lot of sugar in your diet? (that includes white potatoes, bread, plus all the processing with HFCS) Check your tongue and if it's whitish (like Thrush in a baby) then you'll know it is yeast and you need to get on a prebiotic/probiotic immediately. Yeast, although harmless for a while will upset the entire balance in your body and major diseases will set in. Yeast breaks down the immune system and like you said, can be uncomfortably itchy as well.

Hope this helps!

you could try putting a little baking soda under your arms and see if that helps. If not, try some cortisone and if that helps, it's heat rash or an allergy or something else that may suggest a visit to the DR is in order. It may just be simple chafing with the summer so hot year, tho!

I get this when I use deodorant that is white.
I developed a sudden allergy to white deodorant for some reason. When I slip up and use it again I have to go with out for a week and it eventually goes away, put some anti itch cream on it , and some lotion on it.

Maybe it is yeast...you can try some athlete's foot powder/cream or get a script of Nystatin powder or cream (you may have some from left over if you have a little one!)

Been there! Good luck!

I well imagine it's the soap you are using when you wash them, coupled with the shaving can definitely dry one's skin out.......... poss refrain from soaps, shaving creams and just use PURE good ol water and see if in a week you don't feel better. additionally, try if you aren't already wearing cotton shirts as oppose to anything synthetic.... best of luck

It could simply be from shaving.... is your blade dull?
Or, sometimes the razor blade gets full of bacteria... try washing it with rubbing alcohol to sanitize it.
Or, it is the hair stubble growing in...

Also, don't put deodorant on right after shaving.

Or maybe something in your laundry soap?

Instead of deodorant, try just patting baby powder under your armpits... the 'cornstarch' kind.

If it is just the armpit...some cornstarch powder if no allergies ...just watch out for rashes of course even before you try that and contact MD.

My best guess would be a yeast infection. Try some over the counter fungus cream or spray. The kind used for athletes foot.
