If I remember I throw them in the wash with the towels about onve per week...if I miss a week--no big deal.
The BIGGER deal is that my husband throws them in the dryer! Arrrrrggghhhh! Again I say "Please--just don't help me!"
Buff Puff/Bath puff?
I had one of those not so sleepy nights, and as I showered I was wondering if I should throw the thing in the wash with my laundry... I started getting so grossed out by my own thoughts :P that I threw the thing out. I mean, It hangs there, shower after shower after shower, yes it gets soapy, yes it gets rinsed.. but all the exfoliating and soap scum that gets left behind.. face it, NO WAY can you get that thing SUPER clean after every shower..
So, how often (if any) do you throw your puff in the wash, or do you replace it every other week?

I'm not germ phobic, and find unneccessary waste, especially plastic products and toys, far more abhorrent. A brief investigation into the amount of garbage produced in this country will quickly reveal how shocking it is (just one link: http://library.thinkquest.org/06aug/00442/wu3rs.htm).
I use my scrub gloves until they are falling apart, which means I replace them every 3-4 years. They get washed and rinsed with each use. As they dry, any bacteria left on them dies. And even if they didn't, most of the bacteria and virus on our skin are valuable protectors of our health, keeping each other a healthy balance that continually outcompetes the harmful ones.
If I found out I had an antibiotic resistant infection, of course I would reconsider. (And incidentally, a phobia is an extreme or irrational fear, a neurosis, not something to take pride in.)
Seriously, my puff thingy lasts about 2 months and starts fraying and that's when I get me a new one. I rinse it really well after use and hang it so it dries. I've never had one get all stinky on me yet. They wear out way before that.
I did try washing one once, it just makes their life much shorter and not worth it.
I throw mine out when ever it starts to look worn out. I wouldn't have even thought to wash it
i use scrub gloves and they rinse and dry after each use. I LOVE them (especially the exfoliating set I have). If you add a bit of baking soda to your body wash, it not only exfoliates your skin but it also cleans up a lot of the gunk on your bath puff.
I wash it, just in the shower, make sure to rinse it well, and hang it to dry. I have not ever washed one in the washing machine. I would've thought it would fall apart. I keep the same one for a looooong time.
i use the $1 kind, i wouldn't bother washing, just replace.
Im kind of a germ a phobe when it comes to stuff tat touches your body... so I throw mine away. well, its actually my husbands because I dont even like using them really. But I throw his away once a month or so!
I usually throw mine out but I have thrown it in the dishwasher, not the washing machine. Mine usually last a while but once it sort of hits me that I haven't replaced it for a while, I think I better just pitch it!
I think I read on one that it needs to be replaced once a month. . . doesn't happen though! lol
I usually get the cheap plastic puffs that fall apart after about a month, or else I get a loofah, which I can only seem to keep for about a month or so. I have heard stories about people keeping them for years, which makes me wonder how they do that...
I don't actually use one since I prefer washcloths. But my husband uses them and I know for a fact that he NEVER washes it in the washing machine. I think he replaces them every few months.
