not too long ago, it finally occurred to me why every time that i swept crumbs into my palm, they still made it to the floor. my fingers were together but there were still spaces between them that the crumbs fell through. now i squeeze them together really tight.

also, i had gone for years filling up the ice tray, square-by-square. it worked, so i didn't think anything of it. then my husband says "what are you doing? just tilt it downward a little and fill from the top."

duh!

What can I do next?

I have to tell you this. Not exactly what you were talking about, but it is funny. Back when my best friend and I were just a couple of years out of highschool I was staying the night with her and her fiance. We decided to heat up some pizza rolls. She read the package and it said to place (I can't remember how many it said) and heat for 45 seconds. I told her we had more than that and should heat it for 60 seconds. She thought, very seriously, for a moment and said "Na, we should heat it for a minute." I thought she was playing, but when she saw the look on face she busted out laughing at her DUH moment. For over ten years now I have not let her live that one down.

Something else we figured out that night. When you get an espresso machine for the fist time and want to try to perfect cappuccinos, don't make 2 shots each and then do it 3 times in a row. That is the one and only night in my life have I ever started shaking because of caffeine. And yes, stupid us, we started making them at around 9 that night.

I was just laughing about this this weekend. You know that commercial for Sleepys? "Call Sleepys, for the rest of your life". Well I've been hearing and singing along to that jingle for probably 30 years, and I just figured out, actually just had it pointed out to me that it means rest of your life as in the best rest you will ever have in your life on their mattress. I always just thought it meant as long as I live. Get it?

LOL that's funny. I finally figured out how bike gears work. I of course rode a bike as a kid and started riding again 3 years ago. I have completed 2 triathlons and have logged hundreds of miles of biking a year with *no freaking idea* how the gears worked or whether or not I should go up or down a gear and why, or why one gear made me go faster than another. I finally looked at the gears and realized that if the gear that the crank and the back tire are on are the same size, one turn of the pedals = one turn of the tire. If the crank gear is bigger, then the back tire spins several times for each turn of the pedals, therefore you go faster. And that you get up a hill by dropping to a lower gear and pedaling faster but with less resistance (a nice easy spin). Duh!

I've also been playing that stupid Candy Crush game for a while and thought that whether or not the striped candies cleared things horizontally or vertically was random. It's not - the direction of the stripes is the direction it clears.

A few yrs ago, I was out for a weekend trip, and hubby wanted to bake some welcome home brownies for me as a surprise. he got an off-the-shelf mix, made the batter, poured in a buttered pan, and followed the 45 min bake time to the letter. In.A.Microwave oven.
(We didn't have an oven at that time, and I used to make m/w brownies)

hubby's duh moment...but the gesture was so romantic...:-)

Um, I just learned that if I tilt the ice tray downward a little and fill it from the top it is more efficient. A little too late, though. We have an ice maker in our fridge, so I don't use trays anymore. Where was your husband when I need him 5 years ago?
