My daughter loved her Jumperoo and she is fine. Mind you I didn't let her stay in it any longer then 30 minutes Max at a time.

I used a Jumparoo for both of my daughter's. And from the way they climb on everything now I would say there was no harm done to their knees. They both loved the Jumparoo as well. So I would say let her keep jumpin! Everyone has an opinion as we all know.

We LOVE our jumperoo. We DO make sure just his toes are touching because this kid can BOUNCE. He is in it maybe 15-30 min twice a day. It is really used when he needs to expend some serious energy or just hang out and the exersaucer just isn't cutting it. He just started crawling and he still likes his jumperoo, it gives him that additional activity. Anyway, I know there are tons of opinions, but we're keeping ours :)

It's funny how everything from our childhood is 'blacklisted' today... My sisters and I all used our jumparoo and we're all fine...

Whenever you get advice like that, just nod and smile and follow your own 'mommy instinct.' You know what's best for your child.

Well I just looked on the computer and I am coming up with alot of other peoples opinions about the use. Some speaking of there toddlers using them and never any problems. The one thing they did mention was that the feet should not sit flat on the floor only the toes should touch . I hope your friend is not right cause this is my sons favorite thing he is going to be 6 months in a week. I do recall at one time reading that they should not be in it for more than 1/2 hour 2-3 times a day. For Lucas Im lucky to get him to stay in anything for 15 minutes at a time.

I would ask your pediatrician. I can't imagine that they're bad for knees as the device itself propels and carries most of baby's weight, if you have it set up appropriately.

My daughter loved her jumparoo and played in it daily when she was about the same age as your daughter. She developed just fine (now she's 2) and didn't get any health problems from it. It may not be the absolute ideal position for her to be in, but it's the same concept as not ever giving your older kids candy. There has to be some sort of a fine line of letting kids have fun (and be kids) versus be robots and only eat health foods and never allowed to have fun. I would only keep the baby in it, when she's having fun. If she gets tired, or wants out, I would pick her up from it immediately. She knows her limits herself already. Have fun and don't worry too much :-)

None of my kids ever had any problems and I've never heard anything like this. I would think that it would be good for the muscles and joints, building up strength so they can walk. The only problems I have heard of is that kids who spend too much time in them or similar things, start to have crawling and walking delays. You need to make sure they also have lots of floor time, and as they get older use the jumper less and less. When they got to the stage where they were pulling up on their own, I quit using it all together. With a saucer toy, they can walk around the outside of it and play with the toys instead of being it in.

I have to disagree with Shari. My mom used to put me in one and I developed very well. I had very high marks in school and graduated college with honors. I also played sports (volleyball, track). Parents nowadays are trained to be scared of everything. They are forced to over-medicate and be afraid of every toy in existence. I played outside, in the dirt, in the sun. I jumped, ran, tripped and fell. I had bumps and bruises and scrapes. It's part of being a kid. You play. You get hurt. You get better. You play some more. As long as you set it up properly and you watch her, I personally see no problem with it. If you put her in a plastic bubble and never let her touch anything, how will her body grow and get stronger?

My pediatrician is for them. Why don't you check with your Dr.? I've never heard of a baby getting "bad knees" from a jumper.

Someone posted about this a couple of weeks ago, you might be able to look it up for more responses.
What i've read/heard is that going out of order with physical development isn't the best for babies. So with a jumperoo, they are jumping before they've learned to stand and walk. It's not that they are going to be totally messed up, and most people won't be able to tell the difference (although I do have a friend who is a movement therapist and she can notice those types of nuances).
I've never heard of it being bad on the knees, it's more general than that and more of a back/hip/pelvis thing.
If you need the break then you need the break, probably best to break it up into multiple short periods.

spoke to our pediatrician about this. She said (just like everything in life now a days!), it is fine in moderation! No more than 20 minutes at a time, max twice per day.

I did some research online and found studies have shown a delay in development from jumpers... I returned the jumparoo.

FYI, Our daughter was a National Merit Scholar, was a published artist by the age of 16, and is now in college at an Ivy league school. She was also given the Presidential Golden Volunteer award since 5th grade. She was on the Varsity Rowing team in both high school and college starting her freshmen years HS and College..

For anyone on this board to make a statement otherwise about "contraptions" being detrimental to the development of an infant, toddler or child is irresponsible.. I am a child Development Professional and have never read such hog wash...

She used the Jumparoo and never had a developmental Problem in any way.. Our daughter loved her jumparoo! She was in it pretty early because she was ready.. We would play music and she would laugh and laugh while jumping..

Take videos.. Be sure to state the date and how old your child is.. you will be amazed later.. . Just make sure it is positioned correctly.. Our daughter walked at 6 months (yes, really so did my husband) and they have never had a problem with their knees feet, anything..

I have heard of that as well, but really -- she's only 6 months old... i doubt that the amount of force to her knees are that bad. i guess it also depends on how long she is left in the jumparoo. Honestly, if it gives you a few minutes to get things done -- I say, keep using it.

Babies should NEVER be in any contraption except on their bellies on the floor. Putting them in other positions develop the wrong groups of muscles at the wrong time. When a baby is allowed early motor movement their brains and bodies become connected and will ensure they are good students who have a good attention span and focus. Contraptions are NOT helping your child and hindering their development. Just because they sell them, and everyone else is doing it, don't fall into that trap. The best readers and students had the most time on their bellies! They have a core and deep muscles to allow them to sit still and balance.
