Jumpers Vs. Exersaucers

I have both for my twins. We have a "jumperoo" in which the seat rotates and we've had it since my oldest was a baby (more than three years ago.) It really has the best of both worlds. How long they can use it depends more on weight and height, but my son used it for close to a year, and now the girls have been using it for five months or so.

I think it depends on the baby. My son loved his evenflo excersaucer, and since he liked to jump we thought he would like the jumper but he didn't seem to take to it as much. I actually took him to babies r us and put him in different exersaucers to see which one he seemed to like the most because my daughter didn't seem to like hers. He was in it probably long after he should have been but I think when they are starting to climb out or want to be moving more, it is time to retire it.

We have a jumperoo and just started using it, our baby just turned four months. He loves it and it lets him play, jump, and sit while I can actually cook meal and then eat with two hands. He has a lot of fun in it and we get some big smiles and laughs while he plays.

I've had parents bring me the jumpers through the years. Not one of my daycare children ever liked them. I like the exersaucers. The ones with toys are great. But one with less toys is good for snacks too.

This is not the answer you were looking for but.....
No child who is not already capable of holding themselves upright on two feet should be put in a piece of furniture that encourages an upright posture. The floor is a child's neurological workshop. As the child progresses from moving on their stomach to hands and knees they are preparing their anatomy and neurology for the act of standing. A child builds truncal strength, depth perception, proper curvature of their spines, righting reflexes, and tactility during these stages of development. Putting a 4 month old in a jumper or exersaucer is harmful in two respects. One, it prevents this natural developmental process. Two, it is confrontational from the persepective of their visual, tactile and anatomical abilities. The best thing you can do for your child, especially a four-month old, is to put them on their stomach. Putting them in an upright position before they are able to maintain it themselves can interfer with the process that develops both the brain and anatomy of a little child.

I'd have to say that both are a must and I'd even throw a walker into the mix. Don't pay full price for any of it though. Go to second hand or consignment stores. Craigslist or Kijiji are great too. (Even Ebay) They're a great resource since babies grow out of everything so quickly. Chances are you could get all three for the price of one item new in store.

I got my daughter the Baby Einstein Jumper. It has plenty of activities for her to do, but also let her jump. Depending on how tall your kid is, will dictate how long they use it. I had to pack it up at 9 months because my daughter was too tall, but she would of still used it if I let her. It was $90 and worth every penny. I could of left her in there for hours she loved it so much, but I felt guilty not playing with her.

I have both. My twins are 10 months and have been using both since about 6 months. My son is long and loves to bounce so he really likes the jumper, my daughter prefers the exersaucer. I like both toys. I plan on using them until either the kids loose intrest or become too big ( which in that case the exersaucer will probably go first )

Me and my sister both have girls that are 11 days apart, so we bought the same kinda stuff around the same time.... i bought an exersaucer, similar to the one here

My daughter liked it, but there really isn't much bounce w/ jumpers like these...and the toys get really boring after a while. Also, once they get to a certain height, it's just flat out dangerous. My daughter was pretty rowdy in it and it looked like she might just be able to tip it over. That was the last time i used it, and she was i think around 7 or 8 months. Both girls absolutely LOVED this thing. It bounces really good, so as they get bigger and more active it's tons of fun for them. The toys seemed a lot better on this compared to the other exersaucers also. Plus, as baby gets taller, you can adjust this jumper MUCH better than u can adjust any other one. They are all adjustable, but this one has much better ..variety? They used this thing til past 12 months, just because thats how much they loved it. Hope this helps!

Maybe a fisher-price step'n play piano? My 7 mo old loves it, and my niece used hers to age 3 I think.

I never had a jumper since I didn't see how it could stay interesting. My son loved his exersaucer. It had feet that you could flip up so it could move around side to side in addition to having lots of toys to play with. Plus, he could eat in it. Our was orange and we used it from 4 months to over a year. Great investment.

Really depends on the child.......

Our (3rd) son REALLY liked to jump. Every time you held him, his would stand holding your hands and jump jump jump. So I convinced my husband that we "needed" a jumperoo and he only liked it for a couple weeks..... But he still spends time in his exersaucer (while I shower) and seems to enjoy that MUCH more. But some kids LOVE the jumperoo.

Perhaps buy off craigslist and get both???

We've had both over the years. The exersaucers were ok- we had 2, but we got the Fisher-Price Jumperoo for our 4th child, and she absolutely LOVED it!! It was so worth every penny.

My grand daughter LOVED her jumperoo! She would jump forever if we let her. When we took her out, she would crawl over, pull herself up and jump while holding on to it. As for the saucer thing, she wasnt very thrilled with it. The toys didnt interest her and she could have toys all over when on the floor so she rarely used it.

I have to say my kids used them equally and it seemed like not for very long. They both crawled at 5 & 6 months an prefered moving around to being couped up whenever posible. I would still use them to shower and get stuff done though.The one thing I did learn is there are a million of these things hardly used & you can buy them from someone else. They are expensive when you look at the short amount of time you use them.
