Hey R., welcome to Texas!!! We live in Corinth and are always happy to meet new people. I know how it feels to be homesick..we have moved lots! Send me a message and tell me more about where you live, your kids and things like that. Maybe we could meet up somewhere the kids could play or something. I have an in home day care right now, but on somedays I can get out of the house during the day, but for sure on a weekend if you want. I also have 4 kids..8-G, 5-G, 2-B, 8 mo-G. Try to get out of the house and do something fun today, even if it is just to take the kids to our terrible mall to play at the not so terrible play place:) Look forward to hearing from you ~A.~

Hi R.,

Depending on where in Denton you live, you can join one of two MOMS Club chapters in Denton.

MOMS Club of Denton-Northeast includes Denton addresses on the east side of I-35E, as well as cities in the 76227 zip code. (Aubrey, Krugerville, Providence Village, Savannah, and Cross Roads.) http://www.momsclubdentonne.com

MOMS Club of Denton-South serves the areas of Denton west of I-35E.
http://www.momsclubdentonsouth.com

International MOMS Club is the largest support group for mothers at home. You can read more about this organization at http://www.momsclub.org.

This is a great way to make friends for both yourself and your kids. We have weekly playgroups, field trips, park days, splash days, MOMS NIght Out, guest speakers, and more. Basically, we are a sanity-saver for moms during the day. ;0) Our chapter has a few transplants from elsewhere in the country, so they know exactly what you're going through. Making friends is a great way to ease the transition and homesickness that you're facing.

Hi R.,
I moved here from GA too! I lived in Marietta. I'm a member of Mothers and More. I think a previous poster talked about our fine group. :) I've moved a lot and I've found it always helps to join a mom's group, whether it's Mothers and More, Mom's Club, MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) or whatever. These clubs provide instead friends and networking. The three I've mentioned are national groups with local chapters and have website that you can google to find out more. There may also be some local clubs near you which advertise in your local paper.

Hi R.,
Welcome to Texas! My name is S. and I am also a SAHM of a 20 month old boy, Andy. I know how you feel. I moved here from Austin about two years ago. I was pregnant with my son and was very lonely. I assure you it does get better :)

So, why did yall move here? We moved up here b/c my husband got a new job. I used to teach before I had my son, but now I enjoy spending all my time with him.

Hey R.,
So sorry that you are feeling home sick. I live in Denton also - I have 2 kids a boy who is almost 5 and a 22 month old girl. I work part time but the majority of my friends are SAHM's. Most of us know each other through our church which is Hope Fellowship. We meet at the denton arts center. I think there is a playgroup on wednesdays and on thursday nights we get together to hang out. Tonight we are taking all the kids to a park here in denton to play. Let me know if you are interested in coming. There will be lots of other mommies. if not I would love to talk to you! My husband moved here from pennsylvania almost 6 years ago and i think he is still homesick!! Hang in there!
