I just moved to the area with my 2 year old son to be with my fiance. My son loves it here. My fiance and I don't know anyone with small children for him to play with and I feel like he is missing out. When I lived in New york he went to day care and a lot of our friends had small kids. I am not sure how to get him the interaction with kids his own age if he doesn't have to go to day care at this time. I don't want him to become anti social or anything from lack of. He is such a happy and polite child who needs friends...

What can I do next?

Hi, J.! Welcome to NE Ohio! Wow - what a great time to move here....just before winter! :)

You probably don't know the area that well yet, but Copley is not too far from you, and there is a school (Spring Garden Waldorf School) there that does puppet picnics for little ones every Friday. They are from 12:20 - 1:20 pm. Just bring a lunch to eat and enjoy the show with other moms and their little ones. You can't beat the price - it's free! I think you can register online at www.sgws.org.

Also, I don't know what the CF library is like, but the Stow Public Library has an awesome children's dept. and you could sign him up for story time.

One more thing......in Wadsworth, there is the Tot Spot, a drop-in babysitting center where you can leave your son for up to four hours to play with the other children while you do whatever. www.cjtotspot.com

Good luck! I'm sure you will find things quickly for both of you and feel right at home.

Blessings,
J.

Not sure exactly where you live, but go to Google and search for an Early Childhood PTA. There are quite a few throughout the NE Ohio area. The one I'm a member of is extremely active with lots of field trips for the kids, play groups, soccer and t-ball. I was so glad I joined after I moved to the area since I didn't know anyone!

My Kaitlin is 2 1/2 and doesn't go to day care. She socializes at the playground at Chapel Hill mall, at the public library - they have reading times at different locations, and with neighborhood kids. You'll work it out :) You'll meet people!

Hey J.! My little guys attend Spring Garden Waldorf School in Copley. On Fridays we offer Puppet Picnics around 12:30pm. The school also has mommy and me programs where moms connect and little ones play, bake, and enjoy circle time. Check out the website www.sgws.org! Welcome to the area! Hope to meet you there! J.

My son does not attend day care either and the children in our family that are around his age, we don't see very often. The best place we have found our son to get the interaction of children his age is in our church nursery. He loves to go and play with other children and we have also made some great friends through it as well. If you are looking for a great church, go to www.cornerstonefmc.org for more information! Good luck!
