My almost two year has Keratosis Pilaris on her upper arms and thighs. Her pedi said to keep it well moisturized. I put lotion on twice a day with no improvement. Has anyone heard of this or know how to treat it? Thanks!

What can I do next?

My daughter had a minor case of it on her legs and I read an article to use a certain loofah wash cloth to help it. I ordered it from thebodyshop.com and it worked amazing!! However, I just looked it up and was unable to find it. I know that the cloth was made from nylon, so if you could find a loofah made from nylon it may work. After she used the cloth I put Avenno lotion on her. Her's seemed to clear up. HIH! Good luck!

I have had it for years but just found out what I have about 1-2 yrs ago. I still haven't found anything that works. I have it on my upper and lower arms, buttocks, legs, thighs which are the common areas.

My kids have it too, my oldest very mild and my youngest 4 not as bad as me but more than his brother.

Hope you find something that helps. It's no fun being teased about a skin condition.

Blessings,
M.

My husband and 2 of my kids have this condition - my dermatologist told me that if he had a cure - he would be rich!! It is very common - not much you can do. We used a lotion that has salicylic acid in it - it didn't help either! Not sure there is much you can do!

My Son and Husband has it. We use Cera Ve cleanser for the bath and lotion after the bath. It does help some, they aren't as bad. There also a Cera Ve combo pack that has the lotion/cream, Cleanser and Salicyic Acid type cream. That seemed to help the best, it is prescription by the Dermatologist. We also use a foam that helps a little bit- Hydro 40. Nothing has totally taken it away, all of these make it better and smoother and not so rough. I have noticed that my Son's is decreasing on his arms and thighs; there isn't as many since we've been using the Cera Ve cleanser and lotion. Cera Ve lotion and cream and cleanser you can buy at CVS over the counter. I've also been told St. Ives has a scrubbing peach scrub type cleanser that works pretty good, if you use a rougher scrubby type mitt.

We see a Pediatric Dr. at Tarrant Dermatology- Dr. Teresa Willis on 8th Avenue in Fort Worth. Number is ###-###-####. The only complaint I have is that there isn't anything for young kids to play with or look at. There's adult magazine and a few children't magazines for older kids. Be sure and bring toys and books. They are great Dr.'s and we've had to deal with Molluscum, which is very hard to treat and they treated it and we are finally Molluscum free! I've seen them for my issues also and I highly recommend them.

There are a lot of people who have this. It is a condition where the skin doesn't slough off fast enough and clogs the hair follicles. They do have a prescription medication (Locoid) that is very expensive and is not guaranteed to work. It does help some people. I have used it... It doesn't reduce the bumps too much, but it did reduce the redness so they blend in a bit better.

My twins have it and I can't get it to go away all the way, but I've found that rubbing in baby aquaphor (not the regular kind - too greasy) before bed REALLY helps.
