My MIL has had two or three and they've all had something go wrong with them at the one-year point. She purchased hers at Costco, so she just takes them back for a new (free) one each time they break.
Knowing that, we purchased the Bosch Tassimo 40 and love it. It has a smaller footprint than the Keurig, too. This model makes coffee, latte, espresso, tea and hot chocolate. I'm not sure if the newer Keurig does that or not. There's a little less of a coffee selection than Keurig, but what they have, I love.
Not sure what it is, but we used much more coffee in our regular maker to make stronger coffee, so we were already paying a lot for coffee to begin with (and it was quality coffee, too). I buy the coffee discs at Bed, Bath & Beyond and use their 20% off coupons.
We love ours, personally. The only thing that I grapple with is the coffee discs aren't recyclable. That bums me out as I do try to be as eco-friendly as I can.
