I'm looking for a recommendation for someone to replace a very large dying tree in my front yard. Any suggestions? I would like a large fast growing tree.
Thanks!

What can I do next?

Not sure about what type of tree to plant -- but here is who we just used to do some work for us:

Kinney's Stump Grinding
2302 N PKY ST
MESQUITE TX, 75149
###-###-####

We had 6 oleander bushes that were all about 5 foot wide and 8 foot tall. We needed to have them removed becuase they are posionious to our dog/kid. We had them cut down to the stump by our lawn guy and then we didn't know what to do next. (My husband freaked out becuase my 2 year old picked something out of the grass and put it in her mouth and he was afraid she ate the plant -- so he had them all cut down the next day). Anyway, my husband called them and they came out that day and gave an estimate on grinding out the stumps - they were huge -- really like a tree insteadf of a bush - and replacing the huge section that was mud underneath with grass. We gave them the go ahead and they came the next day and got it done. They were very reasonable priced and everything was exactly like they said it would be. I was very happy with the job the did. My husband said they were very easy to work with. I think it is family owned.

So I bet they can help you get rid of your old tree and put in a new one. They gave us a free estimate so it is worth a try ;-)

We planted two sycamore trees and love them. They grow (relatively) quickly - but have the look of the more slow-growing hardwoods. They have those big classic shaped leaves (the kind you trace in kindergarten for Fall projects :-)) and they turn vibrant colors in the Fall.

We have a Texas Ash in our backyard. We planted it 6 years ago and it is at least 20 feet tall now. It seems to be sturdy and is a native tree. It drops all of its leaves in the fall.

Mulberry trees are fast growing and provide lots of shade. They also use a TON of water though and can mess up your foundation if you plant them too close to the house.

I would replace with a Chinese Tallow. Some nurseries consider this a "junk tree" and do not carry it. However I have 2 in my yard and they literally grow like a weed! One is one that we carted home in the trunk of our car after purchasing it for $35. It is meters taller than our 2-story house now. The other we bought from a tree farm for $400 10 years ago. It is as tall as any pre-existing tree in our whole neighborhood. The leves change into a variety of colors in the fall and look sort of like aspen leaves. I just love them. Easy to grow and pretty! -- With some nurseries you can pay extra for the "plant and guarantee" option. -- Tree trimmers will remove dead trees and stumps.
