I have recently begun crying alot for no reason whatsoever, and can't make sence of it. Just today I was watching a comedy on TV, repeat A COMEDY!!, and I started crying, felt an overwhelming sense of doom and went on to panic and call everyone I know. I couldn't stop crying for more then an hour untill I got my husband on the phone and he calmed me down. What I'm wondering is if it could be post-patem. I thought that was usualy right after childbirth, but my son is a little over 14 months. I guess I'm not sure what I should do. It might just pass, but I don't know. Anyway, if anyone has any ideas on how to cope, they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What can I do next?

You probably have generalized anxiety disorder, that probably isn't related to your hormones. Talk to your doctor and he/she can prescribe medication and/or therapy. I have generalized anxiety disorder. I take Lexipro and see a therapist once a month. It's helped me a lot. You can message me any time if you want someone to talk to about it who's been there. It's quite manageable if you get help right away. Don't be afraid to talk to your doctor. A lot of people have ancxiety disorder.

I still do that and my kids are teens..LOL It could be that your just overwhelmed. I would just watch it carefully and if it seems to keep going then maybe see your doctor. Give your self a chance to breathe once in a while and know truly we have all felt like that. Keep talking to your friends! Good luck!

The overwhelming sense of doom leads me to wonder if perhaps you had an anxiety or panic attack. My daughter was 10 months when my mother died and shortly after I began to experience burning pains in my chest (like i was going to have a heartattack) and an overwhelming fear for no appearent reason. My doctor diagnosed me with an anxiety disorder. The disorder doesn't go away, but I've learned to cope through it enough that I don't have them randomly unless life gets extremely stressful.

You are just a normal mom, but I have heard that post partem can happen anytime between birth and 2 yrs. If it gets worse, I would suggest talking to your doctor about some anti-depressive meds. I use them and they are great. But if its just the crying and you feel like you can take it, then just relax and go with the punches. We live in a terrible, troubled time and one cant help sometimes but feel like doom is coming. Good Luck and keep calling your hubby or friends to help you out, a great support group does wonders.

I know what you are feeling and no it is not something that I would call fun!! And I also don't think that it will just pass. Make an appt with your dr. and tell them what is going on. When I was at this point with my first one I went down hill very fast. My advise to you is to see your dr soon and get things under control before these feelings take over!
If there is anything that I can do for you just let me know!!

Wow, this sounds ALL to familiar!! My daughter will be a year next week and I have been going through the same thing. It has gotten worse and worse. I went to the doc this week and he gave me some anxiety medicine. It isn't as hard-core as anti-depressants, and is specifically for anxiety. It works with some people but not others. Traditional anti-depressants take 3-6 weeks to become fully functional, so an anxiety specific med is a good idea for immediate (24-48 hr) relief. Talk to your doctor, it usually gets worse and then everyone (hubby, kids, you, etc) suffers! If you need to talk about it, I totally understand, feel free to contact me. Most of all know that this is really common, and your not going crazy or anything (that's what I thought about myself!)
