I am alittle worried cause this pregnancy has been so different from my others and I dont want to feel that I am complaining to the doctor all the time about normal things. Well I am 35 weeks and have noticed that sometimes after I go to pee when I get up I tend to leak a little without even being able to control it. (I know it is weird and believe me I feel weird talking about it.) I also noticed that when I am standing sometimes doing everyday things without notice I leak and I dont feel that I have to go to the restroom?!? Very weird!! I have never had this problem before and dont know why this is happening now. I thought about asking the doctor if this is somewhat normal in some pregnancies. Please help???

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I want to start out by saying thank you to everyone for their advice I took in alot of it. I tried not to really worry about it to much but still it remained in the back of my head. I saw the doctor yesterday and mentioned it to him but he didnt seem very concern about it he showed me on the sonogram machine that there was alot of fluid around the baby and that since I have had 3 previous pregnancies my bladder isnt as strong and have lost control. I am still a little worried since he actually didnt test me or anything but does take off some stress I am going to be on the safe side and keep a watch on this problem myself. I really appreciate everyones advice thank you very much!!!

I had the same problem during my 4th pregnancy D.. Try not to worry. And it's actually not too late to do some kegels and strengthen the pelvic floor muscles (be sure to do them after delivery too). Try stopping the flow of urine when using the bathroom a few times. That should tell you a little about the strength of your bladder muscles. BUT be sure you empty your bladder completely. I remember quite vividly getting up first thing in the morning and going to the bathroom. I would run to let the dogs out, and go back to the bathroom again! If I gently lifted my pregnant belly, I could go even more, LOL. The joys of late pregnancy! Good luck to you for a smooth delivery!

D.,

I would definitely tell your dr. about this right away. I was doing exactly what you described on my 1st pregnancy, but I was 39 weeks along & thought it was urine. I would notice a huge leak after sitting for awhile, but had heard about the bladder thing, so I thought this was normal. About 2 days into it, I mentioned it to my mom & she said I should get it checked out right away. When I called & told my dr. he sent me to the hospital since it was on a Sunday & it turned out to be amniotic fluid & I was induced immediately. The nurse said it could have potentially caused an infection, & harmed my baby had I waited any longer. Please be checked out right away, just to be on the safe side!!

Ok first of all YOU are PAYING your Dr. so you CAN ask them all about all the silly questions. That's their job so dont feel like you are bothering them they signed up for it when they became a Dr. more so when they became an OBGYN. Ask ask and ask ... also if you have not taken your classes (I hope you have by now) check out The Nesting Place.

I would not worry too much unless you notice any blood. I had the same problem with my 2nd one. Not only did I leak urine, but an annoying discharge as well. I had to use panty liners throughout my entire pregnancy because of it. I was told it was common after a vaginal birth when carrying after that. If you are still concerned, the best thing to do is ask your doctor. That is what he/she is there for. If you have a good relationship with their nurse, maybe you might be able to call her and ask her. Make sure though to wear cotton panties and try and stay as dry as possible in order to not let an infection set in. Good Luck!

I think it is better to be on the safe side, your doctor can do an easy test to see if it is amnoitic fluid and to verify that your water did not break. I had a little fluid leak, but it turned out it was nothing. But I was worried and went to the doctor just to be sure. If your doctor has a non-emergency nurse's line you could call them and tell them what is going on, they can instruct you on whether the doctor should see you.

Hi D.

Don't worry!!!! I had the same problem...The baby is right against your bladder and making it work overtime. You might have the problem a coupl of weeks after birth also. I had to do kengal exerises to build up the muscle again.

Good Luck

I'm 26 Weeks, and I myself have not gone through that, but I did read in one of my baby magazines, that what you are going through is normal, The baby has found the warm spot, and it happens to your bladder, and it likes it there. That's what happens, they sit on your bladder, and you have constant pressure. Just be safe and wear a pantyliner, and keep extra undies with you, if your out and about

D., I'm no doctor, but I wouldn't worry about it. I had my second baby in December, and I went through the same thing. I had a c-section with my first, so I never experienced that "loss of bladder control" that women sometimes get after vaginal births, but that's the best thing I could compare it to. It was so icky, but mine didn't appear to be anything but urine. Hope that helps!

Hi,
Not to cause you any worry but I would get it checked out. I was 35 weeks prgenant when I was going through what you are. My husband and I went to the hospital and it was amnotic fluid. I was induced and had a healthy 5pd 13oz baby. One thing i did notice about the fluid was that it did not have a urine smell to it ... sort of an odd sweet smell. I am not trying to be gross just trying to explain it the best that I can. My thought is that if there is ever any doubt on what is normal then you shoudl talk to your doctor.
