Despite the fact that granite is a very hard stone, it can chip, and is subject to water erosion (although many years into the future. If you get a polished granite you may have to spend extra time polishing it to keep it shiny. Also consider the cost. if something does caust it to break, can you afford to replace it? I'm not saying a granite sink would be bad, but it might be inappropriate for a family with children who might carelessly drop a large heavy pan causing it to chip. I love granite myself because it is a very beautiful stone, I would just use it for countertops and/or backsplash. if you do get a granite sink, be very careful about the chemicals you use.
