My doc is in Fort Worth at Baylor All Saints and he's amazing. James P G
Herd. Love him! Baylor is an excellent hospital too!!
I recently moved to TX from VA, 3 weeks ago. I currently have an OB doc however, I would like a 2nd opinion. I'm 43, first time mom and my doc wants to induce me a week early, "just in case" - all my tests have been fine. I firmly believe that word of mouth is the best form of advertising. I would like to deliver at HEB in Bedford/Hurst because they have a Level 3 NICU. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks, A.
I saw Dr Tabor today and the posts were dead-on -- the average wait is at least 2 - 2 1/2 hours!! As a consumer, I think he is overbooking. He spent a whooping 5 minutes with me. I wasn't able to get a good feel for him. The NICU at HEB is classified as a Level 3, it opened 5 years ago and is much smaller. However, all "high-risk" deliveries and premmies <28 weeks go to Harris Methodist at Ft Worth (this was conveyed to me from the NICU nurse who took the time to show me the NICU and L&D). Thankfully, Dr. Tabor deemed I wasn't high-risk just based on my age and controlled hypertension. I'll be sticking with D. Beverly Wood. When I went to sign a release form at Dr. Wood's office my BP was high and she actually took a few minutes to see me and order some labs. My wait was <10 minutes. I don't think this would have happened at Dr. Tabor's office. Thanks for all the input. A.

Tabor all the way.....
His attitude and bed side manner isn't exactly text book...know that his humor is VERY dry. but HE IS THE BEST.
Plan on a half day wait at his office.
Dr. PaPa at Baylor downtown Fort Worth is wonderful. She is not only a wonderful Dr. but ALSO has a great bedside manner.
Hey there, if you want to access harris hosptials, Dr. Tabor is at the downtown FW location. I had to see him and his group for some prenatal visits due to some high-risk issues.
Just to clarify, the level 3 NICU is at the Harris Downtown Fort Worth location, not HEB. The downtown location is where they fly babies from all across the state to receive NICU care. While HEB and Downtown are in the same system, and HEB does have a NICU, the level 3 unit is in Fort Worth.
Sorry that sounded kind of pushy, didn't mean for it to. . . Congratulations!! You are going to have so much fun being a mom:)
If you're delivering at HEB, you might want to check out http://www.thewomansgroup.com/about.html. I had my last child with Dr. Webster as my primary doc and Dr. Taylor delivering. They deal with high risk pregnancies. I love this group of docs.
A good thing to know is that Texas Health HEB has a direct relationship with Texas Health Fort Worth if higher risk care is deemed necessary.
I am a nurse at Harris Downtown Ft Worth. Dr. Tabor is the doctor to see, very experienced, and all the doctors I know refer to him. I also hear Dr. Thigpen is great. Best of luck to you and your little one!!
I'm not sure that she's considered high risk... I use Dr. Beverly Wood. She's awesome. My previous OB recommended her when he moved. I know she delivered his grandchildren. If another OB trusts you, you must be pretty good. We were very pleased with our experience.
