Looking for a Train Table

We are looking at purchasing a train table for my 20 month old son and am not sure which brand is good. Does anyone have any recommendations? We don't want to spend too much money on one(knowing that he won't play with it too long), but do want to get a sturdy one that will last for a couple of years. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks for your time!

Imaginarium has a lot to choose from that are wood or plastic. BRIO is also very good too. I think they're all pretty much the same although I avoided the Thomas the Train brand because of all the lead paint issues they had at the time. You might want to try a plastic one though if your son is rough. We got our 3 year old son a wooden one last Christmas and he managed to break a number of the people and a few of the tracks. He plays with them as he should but I think when he tries to rearrange the tracks they would splinter somewhat if he didn't get them just right and he would force them. I'm glad we didn't get a table as I fear what might have happened to that. I ended up just going to Home Depot and getting a $5 piece of wood (and sanding down the edges so it's not so sharp) and gluing it down. This works out well as I can slide it right under his bed when he's not playing with it and it's a lot easier to move around. It has worked very well as it keeps his attention quite well and even my 1yr old daughter enjoys playing with it.

We have the Imaginarium brand table - we've been very pleased with it. We've had it for 5 years, and all three of our sons have thoroughly enjoyed it. Target and BJs carry tables also. Generally, BJs only carries them at Christmas, but it comes with many train pieces. Michael's carries Thomas sets and individual pieces. When they have a 40% off coupon in the paper, you can use it to purchase Thomas stuff.

any kind is fine...look on craigslist.com first or ebay for one that is gently used- sometimes youcan find them at consignment sales too - although they tend t o go fast.
I think Target or Walmart carries a basic table that you can get for a resonable price. My 1st son received the "Thomas the TAnk Engine" one for his 2nd Christmas and it's held up pretty well - he is 6 now but I have younger ones too.
I think you can a "non-name brand" one and it will provide the same enjoyment.
Good luck

There is a store in Dawsonville that has the nicer tables. The store is near the outlet mall... and if you go there, you will love the store, they cater to young kids, they also have an inflatable playground kids can play in.
