I'm on the hunt for a great hardwood floor vacuum. Do you know of one? If so, what do you like about it? I've been using BONA to clean the floors, but I'm so tired of sweeping them DAILY. UGH. Would love to get a great hardwood floor vacuum.

Thanks!

My Dyson has a hardwood floor attachment that does a magnificent job. I have a canister style and the whole front head come of and this seal to the floor and is the best thing. I have a Hoover floormate but it was just to much trouble to get out every time so when I got a new vacuum I wanted one that could do everything. I bought the attachment and it doesn't get easier. I have tried every thing else - swiffer( don't pick up the big crumbs) scoomba( expensive and breaks easily) ect. Go look at the link and video. Good luck.

I prefer the microfiber velcro mop. The vacuum is too heavy to swing back and forth. I just vacuumed the second floor and my back hurts. I would have much rather swish a dry mop around.

We had hardwood floors growing up and used a dust mop. Now there are wonderful ones made of microfiber. Use these dry. So much easier than a vacuum or a broom. Mop regularly and you never need to vacuum. If there is grit, food crumbs or other stuff larger than dust just push it into a pile and sweep it up or pick it up with a hand held vacuum.

Sadly, hard wood or hard surfaces typically result in a daily sweep of some sort:(
However, I have hard wood and tile now and growing up. My mom and I both swear by a Rainbow vacuum. The dust/dirt goes into water and thus pulls it out of the air making for a longer clean because less is in the air.

Trust me, I tried it all - from Swiffer to sharks to wall units. They all broke or just left the dirt and dog hair. I love my rainbow and I use the bona for twice weekly moping.

good luck

It's really simple, but I like the Swiffer vac - it has the vacuum plus the dust pad on it, and it's very light and rechargable so no cord to mess with.

That said, with 2 small boys who can generate crumbs from literally any type of food (ever hear of apple crumbs? yogurt crumbs?, we've got em), I still have to vacuum around the kitchen table daily.

And I too use Bona for cleaning, about once a week.

Here is what I'm talking about for the vac, about $40: http://www.swiffer.com/products/swiffer-sweepervac-cordle...

I couldn't live w/out my Dyson slim vacuum. I have 3 kids under 5 and hardwood floors throughout the house. It's pricey but it is seriously the best little vacuum! I'm amazed at how it hugs the floor so well. I'm able to get under the oven and refrigerator easily. 2 friends of mine separately raved about it on facebook so I was intrigued and checked it out. Who talks about vacuums on FB? I have turned numerous friends onto it and every single one LOVES it.
The only con about it is you have about 6 minutes to vacuum before you have to charge again. It works fine for me - I do the kitchen, TV room, bathroom and under the table and I have plenty of time. I have to recharge to do the stairs and bedroom level.
Google it for the best deal. You can always get Macy coupons that's where I got mine:

I love my Norwex mop! The Norwex Mop System is a completely different process than anything you’ve ever used to clean your floors. It has a two year warranty!!!! First, do the quick dry cleaning by running the yellow, dry mop pad across your floors in a figure 8 pattern. The dry microfiber pad will pick up dirt, dust, and other allergens from the floor. Use the Rubber Brush to clean off the debris when you’re done and throw it in the laundry when it needs a cleaning.

Next, wet the blue, antibacterial cleaning pad under some warm water, wring it out, and start mopping in a figure 8 pattern. When the front edges are looking a little dirty, just take off the pad, rinse it off, and keep going. This prevents the spread of dirty water and best of all, there are NO chemicals! The microfiber does it all.

The best part of this system is that you don’t have to waste money and resources buying new mop pads all the time – once they become dirty, just throw them in the wash with the towels and they’re good as new!

No chemicals, no fuss, no dangers for your kids.
