I am looking for a bakery or someone that makes cakes in the Pittsburgh area for my sons 1st birthday. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Potomac Bakery in Dormont or Mount Lebanon. The BEST icing. I think Giant Eagle cakes are pretty good though! Ask for their Aunt Martha's buttercreme icing and you will get a smash cake for free. Not a bad deal.
Every time I've served a cake from Giant Eagle, Costco or somewhere else, people ask if its an Oakmont/Lincoln Bakery cake because its "soooo good". I won't shop at Lincoln because of their too high prices and them snubbing folks who went for wedding cakes. And I just don't believe the hype about those two places when they seem to be just as good as anyone else. I would see who could make the type you want, for the price you want and have a sample. I too recommend Oakmont Bakery! Their cakes are soooo good! My son's birthday is on Halloween and they made him a cupcake cake that was in the shape of a monster and it was absolutely adorable! Happy 1st Birthday to your little guy! :)
The last few years we have bought our birthday cakes from Giant Eagle bakery. Our guests love the cake and always comment on how good it is. Costco makes really good cakes too. The only other place I know of that is really good is Oakmont Bakery, people always rave about their stuff. Good Luck
Oakmont Bakery (www.oakmontbakery.com) is amazing! Bethel Bakery is great too. Neither are very close to you though. Giant Eagle does good cakes too. Get a SMASH cake for him!
If you're in the south hills, Bethel Park Bakery is awesome.
Lincoln Bakery in Bellevue is absolutely wonderful! It is my favorite bakery!
