Looking for Chocolate Footballs or Eggs

I am making cupcakes for a super bowl party and put off buying anything until yesterday. Of course, everything is completely picked over and I can't find anything that even resembles a football that will fit on a cupcake. I don't necessarily have to have chocolate, I will take the little "picks" shaped like footballs that you can stick down in the cakes or those little cake decorating candies shaped like footballs that you usually find in the grocery store by the frosting. Anyone seen anywhere that has any of these things left? Or does anyone know of a store that sells the little chocolate footballs or eggs?

What can I do next?

I work for See's candies and we have foil covered footballs. They would have to go on top of the cake as they are wrapped in foil..but are super cute

Cost Plus sells a bag of chocolate sports balls - it is large, so you will be able to get enough footballs.

Peanut M&M's should work (brown and Oval shaped).

In the Valentine's section at Target, I just saw a bunch of sports related candy, etc. You might try there! It would be a foiled covered football if they did have something to top a cupcake, but that would be cute, too!

Hey, I just googled football cupcakes and found a cute idea on Family Fun. They used a chocolate covered almond as a football and piped the white laces on with frosting. Too cute. They said that you could use an almond m&m and do the same thing as well!

Do you have any small plastic Easter eggs? Take a half one can cover in icing, felt and use markers to make lines on it. Or use whole eggs and make a moble. Hope these ideas help. you can also make a sheet cake and turn into football field.

Good luck.
