We just moved to the area and I can't seem to find playgrounds that have the right stuff for younger kids. Any info? Thanks!

What can I do next?

Hi A.! Welcome to the area! We actually moved here last summer and I have two, one just older than two and one that is 8 months too. I actually have been working on a site, a blog for right now with parks and activities in this area for moms and kids or families to do because I could only find scattered info. I do not have a ton on the NJ side yet, but Mercer Park is great and my husband works in Hopewell so we have been venturing over there a bit more.

You can see the ones I have done so far at http://www.downinphilly.com/. It was just difficult to find much information about most of the parks so I hope it helps a bit:). Feel free to email me if you need any help finding them or you find any great ideas too:).

Hi, A.--
welcome to Lawrenceville! I have a 2-yr. old and a baby on the way, myself, and we sometimes go to the Lawrenceville elementary school (when not in session) on Craven Rd. They have some smaller equipment and on one side of the building a group of "Little-Tikes" playhouses & slides, etc.

Marquand Park on Rte. 206 & Lovers Ln. in Princeton has a big sand pit that smaller children love.

The county library on Rte. 1 & Darrah Ln. has a large childrens section.

Princeton Healthcare (hospital), princetonhcs.org, (I think) has some "Mom" programs like "bright beginnings" & "terrific toddlers".

I am in the process of joining a local Mom's group, but I haven't been to it yet--I can let you know if you like.

Another fun thing is the Thurs. night concert in Weeden pk (next to the post office), at 7p.m. Lawn chairs & blankets, free balloons for the children, and a food vendor ( though we usually go after dinner). Lots of little kids running around there. They love the gazebo.

Hope this helps.

Hello A.,
I'm not sure how far in Lawrenceville you live from PA, but if you ever fancy a drive (roughly 10 mins) to PA, then you'll find a great little kids playground. I live right over the Trenton Makes bridge in Morrisville, PA and I take my 5 yr old son & 19 mo old son to the big castle playground and they love it. As you come across the bridge it is off to the right hand side and next to the baseball field and basketball court. The only thing though is the bigger kids start to hang out after 4:30 but I usually leave by then. Good luck in your search. Sorry I don't know any in NJ.

There is a couple of playgrounds that I can think of. One is on Rosedale Rd in Princeton, on the old Johnson and Johnson property. There is also a playground/ park on Lovers Ln. in Princeton. (yes that is really the name of the roead). There is a very nice park/playground in Hopewell, and I believe it is actually called Rosedale Park. Hope that helps

I found a website that lists all the parks in Mercer County area. It is http://webserver.mcl.org/ys/ysplaces.html

It is called Places of Interest in Mercer County.

Hope this is helpful.
