There is a website called "meetup.com" where you can find tons of groups that meet up with common interests. There are groups that meet to play cards, go to restaurants, etc. Check it out- pretty neat!
My husband and I are 37 and 38, live in Plymouth and have NO social life! Our big kids (10 and 13) have more social engagements than we do. We have always truly just enjoyed each others company and used to have a great time just going out for dinner, going to a movie, theater or even just walking around the mall. We have a son (Teddy: now 10 months old) that tends to keep us home more, I stay home and do daycare. I worked in a business office setting previously and I miss that adult interaction. During the spring and summer we "get out" because the kids have ball games, we like to golf, etc. But these winter months are giving me the blues!
We don't drink. Been there, done that...so meeting friends out for a drink isnt an option. I remember my parents would meet with other couples and play cards at least once a month. Do people even do that anymore? I am looking into some ECFE classes to meet other people with a son our age, I attend church but my hubby does not, I have even looked on CraigsList. it just seems like peoples social life revolves around drinking and I just can't go there again.
So onward and upward. :) We like to play cards (spades, hearts, 500), love seeing movies, finding new restaurants, going to the theater is fun but can get too pricey, hubby is an avid golfer (I have really cute golf shoes), and we think we are really funny. HELP me get a social life! Thanks all.

We are in the same predicament. How do you meet couples and also socialize. I work 10-12 hour days, he doesn't work (economy...ugh!) Have you considered other couples and having a dinner date each weekend at each others houses? cook for each other, favorite recipes or even pot luck? We have tried and keep getting turned down.... but it has worked for other couples we know,
Good Luck. We know what you are looking for and would love to try it also,

Definitely try out some ECFE classes. We have with our son and that's been a fun way to meet other people -- and they kids always give us something to talk about. Since you live in Plymouth, you might be in the same school district I am (Robbinsdale 281) and my husband and I have been taking them for a couple years and like them and the evening classes often have couples that attend together.
Other ideas -- are you crafty at all? You could take some crafting classes -- I have been recently at Crafty Planet in NE Minneapolis.
Or, there are a ton of other classes through the continuing education classes from our school district. I keep meaning to sign up for some, but I have trouble deciding which to take ~
Have fun ~

I too would like to meet other couples or families to hang out with. We just recently moved to Brooklyn Park with our three children ages 9,4,and 23 months old. Kids do have a way of keeping you home and I miss getting out more other then going to the store! I do not drink and do not like my kids around alcohol either so I know what you mean. Maybe we could all get together sometime!
