So, I really want to start making my own hair bows for my girls, mostly since a lot of the hair bows that I get for my girls are expensive, then fall apart quickly. I am crafty, but need a jumping point. Do any of you know of a good hair bow book that can instruct me on techniques?
You may get the bow making down, but the raw materials defeat the cost of just buying a bow.

YOUTUBE! Lol That's how I make mine, at Joann's they actually have a beginner's bow making class and intermediate for 20 bucks a class! I'm going to try one out!

My husband and I are professional Clowns/Elves living in Anna. I usually wear hairbows in my wig and have decided to make my own. Walmart carries the Bowabra mini that will make hairbows, you can find it in the craft section. I have not tried it as yet(we've been pretty busy as Clowns), but I have bought the clips from Michaels. As soon as I can find some time I will try the Bowabra.

I have also done bows for ever and is very simple the key after made to keeping them nice is spray starch and a curling iron just run it threw the loops.My daughter would go swimming in hers and I would use that to keep them refreshed.I also took a clothes hanger and took a pair of panyhose wrapped the top of hose over the hanger and clipped the bows and kept them hung in the closet this helps keep in order and fresh.Or brad yarn like hair and hang

I taught myself and made all my own bows and sold them as well. My dd doesn't want to wear bows anymore!!
I also make beaded barrettes and woven headbands.

And it is not true that the raw materials defeat the cost of making your own bows... you can get the supplies cheap and IF you make them and sell them it can we worthwhile to buy ribbon in bulk (tons of websites out there and ebay too) - hairbows make great gifts! My daughter had bows to match every single outfit she owned.
I watched a few videos on Youtube.com and have been a bow making fool ever since. It's so easy! If you are crafty, I'm sure you will pick it up quickly. :)
