Call me lazy, but I think it's easier to google "American made cosmetic brands"!
making our own cosmeticsna cosmetics yesterday and the answers really scare me. I never thought that the products sold in US can still be harmful.
Anyway, I share this with a friend who is very organic and vegan and she told me she made her own lotions, soaps, lip balm etc. She also didn't use lipstick or whatever with colors and fragrance. She gave me a YouTube link on how to make my own whipped shea butter, but of course I get confused. Is anyone in Phoenix or around here do this? If yes, can I see how you make it? This friend live in Wisconsin, wooaa..so far...so I need someone nearby.
Anyone here also make your own beauty stuffs? Where can I buy the ingredients and kits, the online that you use and you know it is good, not only because it is in internet. Thanks...
I check some the organic brands I found in a farmer market and EWG scores them not very good. Like avalon and aveeno. Also, like revlon,Maybeline is high on lead, too. I am glad I asked this China products because I always have thought anything sold here is safe. That's how I found EWG.

There are sellers on Etsy.com that make and sell organic cosmetics. I've purchased a few. Just do a search on their site and you'll come up w/ lots of hits and they do list their ingredients. I consult EWG's cosmetics database religiously, but admit that I don't have the time or the inclination to make anything myself.
There is only one company that I know that makes their products all natural and that is Arbonne. Their products are wonderful but it's like Mary Kay you have to order it from a consultant.
I have read that French and Swiss (and a few other European countries, can't remember which ones) cosmetics are the highest quality, because they are regulated MUCH more stringently in those countries, like food or medicine. But they are very expensive :(
I know Arbonne (which is US made) claims to have the same standards of quality but I've never really looked into it.
I think I would do what someone else suggested and try etsy!
I used to make my own body lotion and lip balm. I ordered the ingredients from 2 compainies online. Sorry I don't have the contact info anymore. But one was a large commercial company and the other was a small home business with essential oils and natural products. Both had good service and quality. Now I've found products at Whole Foods and Trader Joes that work for me, so I no longer go to the trouble of making from scratch.
