My husband, who is 36, has been sick. It started with his chest hurting and major sweating during the night like he was burning up with fever... but the themometer did not register fever. That went on for two days. But now a week later... he is still complaining of having his skin feel really raw all over his body... almost like he has a sunburn, but he doesn't. He doesn't have a rash and he doesn't have fever. He gets dizzy from time to time, but he seems somewhat better, but not all the way. I am really worried about him, but he won't go to the doctor.

Does this sound like anything you know of? I have googled it but really haven't come up with much. Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

He went to the dr. All the tests came back normal. So they are saying it must be anxiety.... Quacks..

Men can be so stoical at all the wrong times. He has just got to go to the doctor. He could be having gall bladder problems. He might have a kidney problem. He might just be getting over a virus. He does need to see a doctor.
Insist on it.
My husband wouldn't go to the doctor when he had a medical problem and so I became a widow.
What he does not know is being afraid of the doctor can be fatal.

Call the advice nurse at the hospital if you don't have a family physician. If you have a family physician call their office and ask them.

I suggest that dizziness and chest pain sounds like heart difficulty which is definitely nothing to ignore.

Could it be shingles? Hmmm....hopefully a nurse on here will have a good factual guess, but most likely he needs to see a doctor. What if you just make the apt? Sometimes I have to do that to get my husband to see a doc. According to him--he NEVER needs to see a doctor but I always remind him that EVERYTHING is better treated early!

A good male friend of mine was diagnosed with MS on a trip visiting colleges with his son and it was like BAM! out of the blue...not trying to scare you, but the sooner he goes, the better. Remind him that his kids need a healthy dad!

My DH is a nurse, and his advice is to not mess around with chest pain- have it checked out.

Tell him to go to the doctor!! If this has lasted for a week, it definitely merits going to the doctor to make sure nothing is wrong. If it only was for a day or two I would understand not wanting to go, but since it has been a week he should make an appointment. Or see if your insurance company or doctor's office has a nurse line to call and ask whether he should come in; maybe if he hears it from someone in the medical field then he will go to the doctor.

A couple years ago my husband complained of chest pain. He figured it was just indigestion from the chili we had for dinner, but he took some antacid and stayed sitting up for the evening. It didnt go away. 4 hours later, still trying to burp it out, and feeling lousy, and hurting, I decided I just had to make the decision and gave him his choice. I can call and ambulance or he can ride in the car with me, but he is going to the ER one way or the other. He let me drive him. It was just heart burn. So, give him those choices. Ambulance at a cost, or free with you in the car, but take him to the Dr. He may have an infection that can be cleared up easy.

I would go to mayoclinic.com and search night sweats. And, don't discount the things that have "fever" as a symptom, because he doesn't have one... as my doctor once told me. I really hope you can get him in! Good luck to you.

Always, always, always see a doctor for chest pain. He might be having anxiety attacks, or any number of other things. But first he needs to have cardiac issues RULED OUT.

Take him to the doctor and have him get some blood work. Check his CBC and see where they are at. Sounds like he is fighting some sort of infection. Best wishes!
