Mentality of a 21 Month Old JFF

My daughter is about as girly as it comes. She insists on picking out her outfits and wearing tutus daily. She'll say, "Oh, that's so pretty!" She loves when I let her use my blush brush and "put on makeup" when I'm doing my own makeup. She walks around in my high heels and likes to put on my bras. The list goes on an on - and I LOVE this about her!!

The other weekend I painted her fingernails and toenails in the morning and she sat still the entire time loving every second of it. I had to run an errand and left her home with my hubby. He called a little while later and said he had discovered the mentality of a 21 month old. "If my nails look pretty painted pink, I would look even prettier with my feet, legs, hands and arms painted pink too!" She had managed to get the nail polish off the counter, unscrew the lid and went to work.

Luckily he took lots of adorable pictures and we were able to get her cleaned up after an hour long soak in the tub and lots of scrubbing. The bathroom floor and vanity were another story....

Just curious if you have any cute stories of things your kids have done that are OMG moments. I'd love to hear them!

What can I do next?

I will never forget the night (it has been 6 years now) when my son was a baby, my daughter was two, and we were watching a movie in the living room. I was holding my son and my daughter was playing quietly next to us while we watched. She wandered off to our bedroom, which was fine with us because it was all "toddler-proofed" and she had some of her toys in there. Then we paused the movie so my husband could use the restroom and I could check on her. I couldn't believe what I saw.

She had smeared Desitin diaper-rash cream ALL OVER HERSELF! All over her arms, her legs, and I'm sure she would've gotten to her face if I had given her a chance. I was shocked, but of course, my first reaction was to run and grab the camera so I could take a picture.

It's always when toddlers are too quiet, that's when you know they're up to no good. :-)

Couple weeks ago my two, 3 yrs & 23 month old were deafening quiet. I was outside cleaning the backyard--and thought to myself "Johnny" wasn't screaming (he's always screaming about some injustice)? Hmmmm should I savor the moment or go check it out! Since my 3 yr old was also involved I thought I better check it out.

Walked into the kitchen to find my 23 month old on the kitchen counter with a whole tub of sugar poured on the counters and floor. The entire salt and pepper shakers emptied, a whole bag of pretzels dumped on a paper plate and a couple bananas on top. Oh ya forgot the two cups of water poured on top for added measure. My 3 year old said they were hungry--so they had sugary, salted bananas and pretzels.

Lucky for me I hadn't started cleaning inside yet so I just started laughing hysterically--took some photos for the memory book! I wish I could have captured their faces when I first walked in--they so thought they were in trouble:)

my 15yo came home from Band Camp one night with a coconut bra which had been used in their Hawaiian Night theme. He marched into the house wearing it, laughing his butt off.

my totally warped 24yo was home.....grabbed my bra, put it on & got stuck in it....while I was dashing for my camera...& his little bro was on the floor laughing hysterically. ++ my older son was being so vocal & jumping around trying to get the bra off.....that the dogs thought he was playing & attacked him front/back, knocking him to his knees! Nothing like 2 80lb dogs hitting you! He was sooo freaked about my camera that he ended up not unhooking the danged thing, but ripped it off over his head.....

Just another night....living with 2 1/2 Men + 2 male dogs.

My son, who was 3 at the time, told my sister, who was 17, that he was going to marry her when he grew up. The look on her face was priceless! Total deer in the headlights moment for her. I couldn't help busting out laughing.

Another thing my son did when he was 2 was to get a large container of powder and dump it all over the living room. This was a new bottle of powder, too. It got all over his toys, his clothes, the couch, the carpet. Oh, I was SO mad! I had to take pictures because I knew I would laugh about it someday. It took me about 2 hours to clean it all up!

What an adorable story! i love how children think, I could write a book on all the interesting perspectives they offer. Just today, my 5 year old said this to me:

"I bet we would like each other if you were a little girl still. We would probably grow up and get married to each others, but you got married to daddy instead."

Several months ago my 4 year old was in his room with the door closed. I was calling for him and he wasn't answering, so I opened the door and found him sitting on his bed, pants and undies around his ankles, magazine on his lap, looking confused.

I'm thinking to myself, "My goodness, I thought I had about 10 years before confronting this," and I start walking across the room towards him.

He looks up at me, looks back down at the magazine and says, "Mama, why does mine look different?" I snatched the magazine from his hands--
He had gotten a hold of one of my hubby's medical journals--the issue that just happened to feature penises with STDs.

He said, "Why are the penises all red?" I told him that the men must have been pulling on them too much, helped him put his clothes back on, and offered him a popsicle. WHEW! What a relief!!
