Migraines and Massages

I've been experiencing a lot of migraines lately. I make sure I drink plenty of water, so I don't think they're dehydration related. It feels like the muscles in my necks and shoulder are really tight. I bought a massage awhile back on Groupon and I'm thinking of booking it soon. Do you think that will help with the migraines? I've only ever had one massage and it was heavenly, but I can't remember it specifically helping the headaches.
Any thoughts?

What can I do next?

It will help. I get them too and a massage always seems to relieve them. I also go to the chiropractor and this has not only helped with the migraines but with all sorts of other ailments as well. It did wonders for me when I was pregnant too. I usually get a massge ( my chriopractor had a therapist on staff) and then go get my adjustment right after and oh man does it feel good. Just a thought.

If it is a true migraine it probably wont help. As they are caused by dialation of blood vessels

Migraine headache is caused by vasodilatation (enlargement of blood vessels) that causes the release of chemicals from nerve fibers that coil around the large arteries of the brain. Enlargement of these blood vessels stretches the nerves that coil around them and causes the nerves to release chemicals. The chemicals cause inflammation, pain, and further enlargement of the artery. The increasing enlargement of the arteries magnifies the pain.

I have never had a massage help with a true migraine. However, a massage has most definately helped with a severe headache when I can feel my neck is tight or the atlas is not aligned.

Morning--
Migraines have a few distinct causes.
1. Hormones--Do you get the migraines around the time you are getting your period?
2. A misaligned atlas--Atlas is the spot where the skull and the spinal chord meet. If it gets out of alignment the nerves can get pinched, thus causing a migraine. A chiropractic adjustment or a good massage can fix this issue.
3. High levels of heavy metals--If you have a high concentration of heavy metals in the blood this can cause migraines. A special diet to pull the heavy metals from your system will then solve the problem.

Good luck!

It has helped mine! I go every two weeks or so and my therapist is fantastic on working on my head, neck and shoulders that seem to decrease the frequencey. I would ask for these areas to be concentrated on when you have your pre-massage consultation so it doesn't end up being a full body frou-frou massage. Good luck.

O yes, yes it should help a ton. When I get mine I tell the lady only to work on my neck and upper back to help with my Migraines. It has done wonders. I have been trying to go once a week to help out, but I noticed a huge difference after the first one.

Go to the EGOSCUE and/or pick up a copy of PAIN FREE by Pete Egoscue. I'd start w/ an e-cise called TOWELS SETTLE. This should help. HOWEVER, headaches can be caused from a chemical imbalance as welll as a muscular one. You also HAVE to figure out what's causing the muscular imbalances......the way you stand, sleep, sit, etc.

Just met a gal who's had lots of BAD migranes. She started taking the QORE ESSENTIALS from a company called QIVANA. This is a nutraceutical company that has DOCTOR DEVELOPED products, not doctor endorsed. All natural, no sugars, no preservatives, no chemicals, no dyes. She said that she realized that after she had been on them on a regular basis, she hadn't had any more migranes.

I'm an independent business owner in this company and in all my years of research, I've NEVER come across anything with this much research behind it or this kind of quality. PHENOMINAL!

Feel free to give me a call and or e-mail me and I'll send you some additional information on the products, research, etc. You want to try and stay OFF of meds!! Meds only mask symptoms and there are tons of side effects even though they tell you there aren't. I've got books that tell you what nutrients are depleted by over 1000 different drugs. Of course, no pharmacist will EVER tell you that.......except for the ones I've trained. The ones I've trained will then tell you what foods to put back in to replace the nutrients that are being depleted.

Anyway, hope to hear from you. D. 317-+###-###-####

I'm not sure if it will help if you are having migraines. If you are having bad tension headaches, then yes, it will help. You may also want to see your doctor for a muscle relaxer. My husband had terrible tension headaches last year from sitting in front of a computer so much for work. It actually took about two weeks for the headaches to fully go away, but a muscle relaxant was a great help.

A massage may help to relieve the tension that seems to bring on the migraines for you. It's worth a try. I have been taking a supplement since last March which has helped me greatly with my migraines. I have suffered with them for over 20 years, and nothing helped like this supplement does. Let me know if you'd like more info about it. Good luck to you!
