A.T.
I have had Mirena for about 6 years and I love it. Maybe I am different, but I have not had any adverse side effects other than the not having my period, which quite frankly rocks! Good luck.
I got the Mirena put in over 2 1/2 years ago and it did great until about 8 months ago. I started breaking out heavily, depressed, anxiety was over whelming. I had abdomen pains you name it was happening not to mention I had put on 15lbs. That might not sound like much to some people but I has 113 lbs when I had it inserted and I have never weighed this much in my life. I thought most of the symptoms was do to being stressed over wedding plans but wedding is over and problems persisted. About a month ago I had it removed I couldn't do it anymore, but I still do not feel great. acne is clearing but not quick enough (not I do not have patience :( sorry), I have lost about 7 lbs but I still feel really depressed or anxious sometimes both at the same time and now I have been getting light headed more and more. I know I have to let my hormones get back to normal especially since I have not had a period since they inserted it (sorry I know TMI).
I guess my question is has anyone else experienced something like this? Does it take a while for your hormones to get back to normal and is the lightheadedness part of my hormones being out of whack?
Thank you ladies for your responses, as for having my thyroid check thankfully I went to a new doctor about 3 weeks ago because I was sick and since I was a new patient of his he ran a drug panel to check for different things. Thankfully the number one thing he checked was my thyroid levels because my family does have a history of it. As of right now THAT part of me is all good.

I gained 20lbs and had chronic yeast infections. I had it taken out and it took a long time to loose the weight and get back to normal. I had my thyroid checked too.
There are THOUSANDS of complaints about Mirena. My sister ended up with migraines that lasted for days.
It took her a couple of months to get "reset" after it was removed. Talk to your doctor though if it's causing major issues.
I don't believe that your hormones would make you light headed. You need to call your PCP or GYN for follow up on this. The acne, weight gain/loss are probably all related to hormones. It will take some time for your hormones to level out after birth control. The abscence of your period since then is also probably related to hormones. I would not attribute the being light headed or the anxiety/depression to your hormones. Those can be affected by hormones but not the ones associated with the mirena. You should have your thyroid levels checked. This can also cause light or missed periods, weight gain/loss (depending on if you are high or low), anxiety/depression, and skin changes. In fact, alot of women are misdiagnosed as having depression/anxiety when in fact it is a malfunctioning thyroid. Please get this checked out. Good luck and keep us posted
I second the other poster on the thyroid check.
I'm hypothyroid...and you've just typed up a textbook of symptoms that I get when my levels are out of whack....
Very easy to regulate, and not a huge deal. But definintely can be responsible for what you've been dealing with.
