hey. im on Mirena. there are a lot of positives and few negatives in my book. but let me start from the begining,
when i was pregnant my sister told me that she is on Mirena. she told me a little about it and i decided that i wanted it. its so much easier than taking a pill or doing NuvaRing because NuvaRing you still have to take out and put in. with this birth control i am totally free from forgetting.
Positives: i love Mirena because it makes my life all the more easier. i dont like to take medication every day: i dont even like taking medication for a head ache, so i dont want to risk forgetting about my birthcontrol and end up with an unexpected miracle. lol. i dont have to think about it. i dont have to worry about it. i dont have to remember it. plus your doctor checks on it every 6 months to see if its moved at all. which is usually unlikely. when they put Mirena in, it doesnt hurt, it feels more like pressure, a little uncomfortable.
Negatives: different women bleed for a different amount of time. as for my sister, she bled for 4 months after her daughter was born. 6wks after birth, then about 2 months after mirena was put in. i actually had bled for 6mo after birth (on and off). so if you can stand your period then its okay. and like i said, every woman is different. and its totally worth it. one other negative is that if you are having unprotected sex, your partner sometimes may feel the string from Mirena. it may be a little uncomfortable.
i love Mirena, and so does my husband. because with a new baby, you wont really have time to remember what day you put what where (NuvaRing), or remember if you took your morning pill. the first thing you do when you wake up (even before you pee) is run to your baby.
i would completely suggest Mirena
