I have moles tearing up my yard. I've tried the peanuts/worms and pellets and I still have moles. I need a tried and true plan to rid my yard of moles.
So far I've tried the hair and the mole went another direction each time. I have two stupid dogs--that sit and watch the yard, so I know they don't help. The pit-collie killed one only when he came into the dog pen. The toy long hair chihuahua will smell around and then go somewhere else to sit and watch. I'll use human urine as a last resort. I don't want the yard to smell #issy. I also tried castor oil and I'm waiting to see what's what. I'm going to get the fox urine for extra insurance. I used to be a nature lover until I got moles. I'm o.k. with the rabbits-squirrels-raccoons and I love the different birds, but those derned moles are driving me bonkers.
Try human hair. I used to live next to a hair stylist and she had moles. She saved hair clippings put them in the holes and the moles were gone.

We use fox urine...worked like a charm. Not pleasant while you are applying but never have seen one again! You can buy it at Bass Pro Shop in a spritz bottle! Ibelieve it was the hunting section but you can just ask for it. Evertime I do new landscaping I spray it around the perimeter as well to keep rabbits and such away. Works great!
This is TOTALLY GROSS, but it works; human pee.
If you have a potty trainer using a little potty it is easy, just dump it where you see the moles.
It really does work.
Traps. Sorry to say but it's the only way.
I was watching a gardening video from the library recently. The guy I was watching makes tonics to fertilize his yard and plants and so on....
He said that in order to get rid of moles you have to get rid of the food source...the grubs and angle worms...They have stuff for that at the garden shop, but you can try this tonic he suggested as well.
Mix
4 oz castor oil
5 oz hot sauce
8 oz dish soap (use lemon scented to scare of mosquito's too)
You mix that together in a container and then mix
1 tsp to a quart of water
1 Tbl to a gallon
1 cup to 20 gallons
Then spray on your grass with one of those dispensers you put on your hose. I guess you look at the measurments on your sprayer and then determine how much you put in the sprayer.
Anyway he said it coats their fur and then momma mole doesn't want to allow papa mole back into the burrow and they move away. something like that anyway. I wrote down the recipe because my FIL has had problems with moles as well.
Their is a product made by Topcat, I think that is the name, that is a white gummy looking worm. Make a hole with a stick into a mound, and just drop the worm in. This kills the moles and they go away. I had major problems with moles and now only a small one when they come from the surrounding areas. These are sold in hardware stores by the pest control. They work better than anything else I have tried.
If you have a dog or cat, take some of the shedded fur and spread it around the yard. The moles will smell your animal and leave the yard alone. If you don't have a dog or cat, I'd try the fox urine. It's the same concept.
Had the same problem. Ate 100's of dollars of my Iris bulbs. We bought rat poison in packets. The problem is, that right now, they have too much other stuff to eat. they typically won't eat it. We got rid of all our hiding places for them, even cut down the fitzer bushes they were hiding beneath.
The rat poison is in paper packets. The packets would need to be opened. If you have younger kids, I wouldn't do it. It might cause them to be curious. If they are older, you tell them DO NOT Touch! Our plan is to really put them out in the winter when there is nothing to eat. Getting rid of their hiding places has really helped however.
