I am in the process of potty training my 3 son. He is doing great stays dry @ night and naps. The only problem is he will not go poop on the potty for anything. I have tried it all bribes making him sit catching him in the act then putting him on potty but he just holds it. PLEASE HELP

Hi A.,
Keep giving him incentives, and try letting him go either on the pot or on his own. Give it time...he'll eventually hate the smell!

All the Best!

My 3 yo has been having similar issues. It seems to take her a while, so I put her on the potty and I sit on a stool in front of her (when I know she has to go) and we read a book that she likes a few times while she goes. It has been working really well-she was refusing to go, but now she gets excited about it.

Good luck!

if you notice he is holding his poop for a couple days then have him drink something that will make him go so he cant hold it & put him on the toilet......let him pick out special toys & keep them in his sight.....when he goes give him one at a time.......or just tell him he can poop in his diaper he just needs to tell you that he has to poop so you can put a diaper on him & let him do his business & maybe after a week talk to him again about pooping in the potty......try not to make a big deal out of it or you will get more resistance from him....good luck

A.,
Try keeping him in a long t shirt with anything on on the bottom(no diaper, underwear etc.) When he looks like he has to go and eventually he will not be able to hold it, hold him on the toilet by hugging him, and talk him through it. Saying encouraging words like "it's OK, it's not scary, you'll feel better, what a big boy etc." Then if he goes make a big deal praising him and say see it was not scary! I don't know why, but both of my boys were afraid to poop on the potty. So this is what I did. One time is all it took and then they would tell me they had to poop. It is the fear of the unknown that scares them. Good Luck!

I had the same problem with my daughter. I don't know what happened exactly. I was in the hospital having my youngest and grandma was here babysitting the two older kids. I came home from the hospital to hear she had been pooping on the potty and was doing it consistantly???? Another thing to watch for is belly aches. My daughter kept telling me her tummy hurt every morning for a couple weeks. I took her into the doc who said she was slightly constipated and put her on Miralax. My daughter has only pooped her panties once when she was first training, so with the miralax she's been going everyday, usually before naptime, and since she has panties on she goes in the toliet. I know I don't have any good advice, but just wanted to say I've been there. Hang in there, somethng will click and eventually he'll get it. Maybe some of these other mommys will have good ideas for you!

I had a similar issue my little guy. We got him plain white undies let him wear them all day and helped him to go potty. When it came to poop he wanted the attention of being cleaned up. I'd let him go ahead and poop himself and then make him clean up the undies and himself. It was a little gross and hard to watch but, got him to a point where he said "I no like it Mom" and I told him that if he would just poop in the toilet, there would be no mess to clean up and I would help him to learn how to wipe...took a couple of messes and he caught on and tried to poop in the potty on his own. We made a big deal about him doing a great job and he started wanting to go on his own. Problem solved.
