Just was curious if anyone has been trying to follow Dr. Ron Pauls bid for President. He seems like he has a lot of pretty good plans that will help us during this economic downturn. I would like to start a forum for him here if that is allowed. Also, I would welcome anyone else's comments on the other candidates.

Thanks...
Cath

Q4 FEC Reports: Ron Paul Receives More Military Donations Than All Other Republicans Combined
Total military donations nearly as much as the total of all other remaining candidates - Republican and Democrat

ARLINGTON, Va. — According to newly released FEC reports, Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul has received more military donations than the other three remaining Republican candidates combined.

"The latest numbers make it clear: the troops support Ron Paul," said Ron Paul campaign chairman Kent Snyder. "Dr. Paul has worked his entire career working for veterans, and has many awards and endorsements due to his dedication to their cause."

A search of the FEC database by employer reveals that Dr. Paul has received 1160 donations from military donors, nearly triple that of John McCain, and more than McCain, Mitt Romney, and Mike Huckabee combined.

Dr. Paul's total military donations of $249 thousand are almost as much as the $260 thousand of combined donations received by the other five remaining candidates.

Congressman Paul is no stranger to military support. Former president Ronald Reagan once said, "Ron Paul is one of the outstanding leaders fighting for a stronger national defense. As a former Air Force officer, he knows well the needs of our armed forces, and he always puts them first. We need to keep him fighting for our country!"

According to the FEC reports, these are the total number and amount of military donations for each of the presidential candidates*:

Ron Paul: 1160 $249k
John McCain: 438 $83k
Mike Huckabee: 126 $37k
Mitt Romney: 126 $24k
Barack Obama: 443 $76k
Hillary Clinton: 154 $41k

*Methodology: Searched FEC reports for occupation/employer contains: "Army" "Navy" "USN" "USAF" "Air Force" "Marine" "USMC" "Coast Guard" "USCG" then removed duplicates and non-military occupations (i.e. "marine repair").

I agree with the others. I really like Ron Paul and what he stands for. However, I'd rather give my vote to someone that I feel has a good chance of winning overall, while still holding some good positions. Right now my husband and I are leaning toward Romney, as well, just for that reason.

I have listened to him the one thing that stands out is he actually understands and respects our constitution and understands the purpose of government and the people.. I am so frustrated with the direction this country is going in - I look at the candidates on both sides and I just shake my head and wonder is this the best we could come up with.

Ron Paul is amazing - just an everyday person like you and I that gets it. My husband actually met him and has positive thoughts as well. Unfortunatly politics is a game being played with Tax payer money- until the people stand up and stop taking what is being fed to us I am not sure what the future will hold.

Hope yes we need it- but we need to stop believing in politicians and start remembering why people risked their lives to come to this country in the beginning..

Blessings,
C.

Hi C.,
I'm so bummed Ron Paul isn't getting more support - my husband and I were very hopeful. Just doesn't look like he'll be in the running.
So, of course now we're looking to the "next best choice" which appears to be Romney.

Ron Paul has said some really interesting things--he sounds like a true Republican and I admire him for being honest. He isn't a front runner, though and I'm really into Obama--he's the one that seems the most sincere and the most able to motivate our country in a new direction. He can also speak English, as opposed to the language that has been coming out of G.W.'s mouth for the last 7 years.

I really really like a lot of what Ron Paul stands for (he's very principled and passionate about freedom), but at this point I am trying to decide which is my favorite out of the LIKELY candidates. Unfortunately Ron Paul isn't going to win no matter what we do. He's consistently getting a very small percentage of the votes, so I'm dealing with reality and choosing another candidate to vote for. I've decided on Mitt Romney. His platform is the family, the economy, and strong defense. With his business background of turning companies around financially, I imagine he'll have a wonderful effect on making the government more efficient and pare it down. And he has very high morals and is a strong advocate of the family.

One of the problems politically with Ron Paul is that he's so strong in his stance and won't compromise. I really admire his integrity, but in politics you have to be able to compromise a little and appeal to a broader range of people. That's why I'd never want to be a politician, because I don't want to have to compromise on my principles. But it's a part of the game if you want to get elected, and Paul flat out won't get elected if you look at the reality and the polls. It's very unfortunate.
