Many babies have a small bald spot due to the way they lie down. It's normal. I think you may have acted in haste, being too concerned about "looks" and not about "health" or "what's normal". I don't see that you have a choice other than to wait it out for a long, long time until it grows out. This could take a while. But going forward, it might make sense to ask this sort of question of friends, a parent support group or the pediatrician before taking a hasty action.

Shaving his head should not have altered his hair growth pattern. His hair will come in regardless, how it is meant to - for him. All babies grow hair at different rates and in stages. One of my kids had sideburns but was bald. You really can't control these things - and to try to even it up (I assume that's why you shaved his head) is not a good idea. Ingrown hairs and stubble .. not to mention their heads are so fragile.

Bald spots are completely normal for babies. Their heads rub on mattress, car seats, baby chairs and swings. Wherever their head presses up against something. Their hair is so fine it just rubs off. You can't prevent this. As their hair comes in and grows thicker, it no longer happens.

Not to sound judgmental but shaving a baby's head ... makes me kind of queasy. When he's got a lot more hair (around 1 1/2 or 2) the most I would do is just gently trim any long loose stray hairs. But no razors or shavers. That just makes me nervous.

It is what it is.
I wouldn't have shaved anything on an infant or child - I'd have been worried about his soft spots (places on his skull which finally slowly close at about 1 yr old).
Make sure he wears a hat when he's out in the sun or put sunscreen on his head.
At least you won't have to worry about lice anytime soon.
If you have anymore concerns about your child - PLEASE consult with your pediatrician before you do anything.

Every baby/human has their own hair growth pattern. It will grow when it grows. Leave it alone because there is nothing that needs to be done. One of my kids grew hair on top, but not on the back and sides (like a fade), the other grew hair on the back and sides, but not the top (like a mullet).

Leave it alone. My one son didn't get hair until he was 2! Never ever shave a baby's head.

Is he your 1st child? Shaving an infants hair is a no-no at that very young age. My advice is to leave it alone. He's too young for creams, chemicals and magic potion on his scalp.

Just leave his hair alone for the next 2-3 years...then you can think about taking him in to get his first haircut. You don't have to worry about how his hair grows in...every baby is different. Some blondies are bald till about age 2! I remember when my daughter was a 1 year old toddler there was a big girl (Kindergarten age) who used to call her Fuzzy bc her head was just fuzz on top at the time. She called her Fuzzy for years...it was a cute nickname.

Baby wigs. They make them from chest hair.

I agree with beaver and kee-- leave it alone. Baby hair growth can be sporadic. My oldest had a mullet for the first year; you would never know it now. Unless shaving for medical reasons or because hair growth is rapid, you should not cut their hair, let alone shave it. It will grow-- although not always in a way that is aesthetically pleasing.

It will eventually grow in. He is probably rubbing it off when he's moving around.
