This may be a dumb question....we want my 18 month old son to have long-ish hair. Not LONG but well within the normal boy length range. Anyway, it hasn't been cut in awhile and does have some length to it now. But it stacks up awkwardly on top and just doesn't look cute as I imagined it. Does it need to be cut a certain way to look right and do I still need to have it trimmed around his ears? Or when it continues to grow will it begin to look right on its own? Thanks!
My boys have longer hair. Make sure they do NOT trim around his ears or he will have a mullet. Is his hair straight or wavy? If straight it will have to grow longer on top to hang right. If wavy he may just need some layers.
Yup - he needs a haircut. Explain to the hair dresser what you're hoping to achieve and she'll help by trimming it into the right shape so that as it grows it is what you want. She may tell you that he needs a shorter cut than you expect to even up all the different lengths. That way it will grow in properly.
the only way to fix my sons baby hair, was to shave him down completely and then let it regrow the natural way... at 13 months he still had some baby hair left along with his new hair. He had some cowlicks and a strange part that I could not get to go to the side for anything. I wanted him to have a longer length as well but it was not working even after several trips to a stylist. Then my friend whos dad is a barber, stated he should just shave it off and then you can work with the re-growth and train the part easier. It worked and it grew back amazingly fast.
I am a a hairstylist. It would be good to have a nice little trim to even it out and get a better shape. Let your stylist know what shape you are going for. It will eventually grow out and thicken as he ages, he still has that fine baby hair that is transitioning to older hair. It will take awhile. I was bald until I was 2! Also, keep in mind it may not ever style the way you imagine it, because hair has a texture and mind of it's own, and one style may not look the same on one person as it does the other. Shaving baby's hair isn't the answer ;)
